With the announcement that Sony will not be going to Gamescom this year the question was up in the air for Microsoft.  Phil Spencer came to answer with this

A little dig at Sony perhaps; or a chance to one-up them due to their absence? Either way it's a good opportunity for MS, will definitely be paying attention to them this year now.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Seriously, what did you expect him to answer? :p

Dig is good for the industry. It breeds completition. Plus Sony will go E3, Paris show and playstation event. MS will go E3 and gamescom. Good shows for the whole year.

He answered with the facts.  It is one of the biggest conferences in the world.

What did YOU expect him to say?

....but BOOOO!!, I want all the news asap so I want it all at E3.

Yes, because Sony helped shape and form it. Gamescom would never have reached the heights it has if it wasn't for Sony.

Now the time has come to Paris Games Week.

I doubt they will keep gigaton announcements for gamescom, a few new games might be there (probably small-mid scale) and the rest will mostly be reiteration of what the big first and third party games offer with maybe different game modes being featured/announced and some additional details like DLC/pre-order boni talk.

This is a smart plan from Sony, doing a conference in Germany where they already have major dominance... not required - just put your stand there, with the games.

Moving the conference to France, means they can get a more Pr in a country where they want to create more of a gap.

What he said.

Good.  Anything else would be odd as he is merely stating facts in his statement.

Exactly, which is why I don't see the need for a thread.
