WiiU has no marketing at all. And the only place where Vita outsells WiiU is Japan, because the console gets a lot of mediocre anime games that are very popular on there, but on Europe WiiU outsells vita 1.5x and on north america wiiu outsells the vita between 3:1 and 5:1 every week.

Simple answer, Japan.

Despite launching later, Wii U total sales are greater than Vita's when excluding Japan, where the Vita gets significantly greater support than Wii U.

Europe 2015 sales 
PS Vita = 100k
Wii U = 120k

North America 2015 sales
PS Vita = 75k
Wii U = 240k 

Well at least Europe is equally...

Japan's the only thing keeping Vita alive. But I do agree, WiiU deserves more then what it has.

When did I say that Wii U deserve better sales? 
I said it is getting (currently !!!) a better support, but this is it. 

PSV is outselling Wii U only because of Japan where vita is getting more support.
And in Holiday Wii U is selling a lot more then Vita worldwide

The Vita gets a lot of love from Japanese developers. That's the main thing keeping it above WiiU in sales.

Figured it was implied because Nintendo actually puts effort into it compared to Sony with the Vita.

I just think it's selling better because Japan loves handhelds, and that's where the bulk of Vita's sales are coming from.

Well that´s not 1.5x, more like 1.2x (the difference is really bigger on holidays)
Remember that Europe is playstationland, a sony handheld selling less than the worst seller Nintendo home console on Europe is terrible. And this is all Sony´s fault, because I actually think that Vita is a good handheld.
