Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo results. Shipments: WiiU 340k, 3DS 1.65m, Wii 80k. $350m profit for full year.

A profit is a silver lining on some pretty dismal figures.

The heck? What do they spend their money on?

A 7% margin isnt that unusual in electronics (Sony and some others would kill for a margin that high) but Nintendo isnt a pure electronics business. And why isnt there any profit growth? They expect less profit than this year.

Maybe because of their R&D kicking in full spin right now while they develop the NX?

How much profit is that in US dollars? And is that for the entire fiscal year, or only this quarter?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Why would there be profit growth for the next fiscal year? They are forecasting lower 3DS sales (7.6 mill) and about the same number of Wii U sales (3.4), so hardware will be down, software will probably be down too ... no Mario Kart or Smash, Splatoon looks like fun but lets be honest it's more likely to sell more akin to Pikmin 3 than Mario Kart 8.

So are we looking at another 6 months before the Wii U hits 10 million?

April-June: nothing of note*
July-September: Whats even on the release schedule?

*Splatoon and Xenoblade X are not system sellers

Yeah GBA was a sales beast, really overlooked.

It's 4th year sales are nearly double that of the 3DS' 4th year.

Also with no price cut on the horizon, I'm sure there will be a scenario where the Xbox One and PS4 will have price parity with the Wii U at some point this year...which will put more pressure on sales.

Not concerned in the least. Everyone is conveniently forgetting Nintendos plan on developing on mobile. Nintendo as a company will be loaded in no time. And if Nintendo is true to their word, it will be used as a gateway to steer fans towards Nintendo products including Wii U and N3DS. Their future is brighter than the paper indicates.

They are going to make a fortune with smartphone games. Traditional hardware/software model though looks like a declining business class for them.
