Not really. Attach rates on third party games are often bigger on Nintendo consoles...

I've never understood the "attach rates" argument.  Does that suddenly make it a better financial investment for the company because you've sold to a higher percentage of the userbase, even though it's less profitable in actual numbers?

I suppose it'd be worthwhile early on in a console's life when there's potential for it to grow over the coming years, but WiiU is a long way away from that stage.

Vita gets plenty of third party support in Japan, why do they bother if your logic is correct?

Vita is quite regularly the second best selling console in Japan.

But more realistically, "plenty of third party support" tends to be ports from PSP/PS3 or multi-plats with PS3/PS4, from developers who have no interest in the overseas market.  Wholly different situation.

Well if it's not coming to Wii U, at least I can still play it. I mean I have a computer, and since pretty much every other game in the entire series has been released on both Windows and Mac, I'm sure this one will at least get a PC release. After all, it's never been easier to cross-develop for consoles and PC, and many of Activision's recent releases have been available on Windows.

Oh? It's not coming to PC? Well, the older games were always ported to the popular handheld of the time. These required a complete overhaul of the games to be converted to 2D, but the GBA versions were considered faithful and high-quality adaptations. Surely Activision can manage to get this game working in some capacity on 3DS and Vita, or at the very least on mobile devices.

Oh. I see. No to those as well, then. I guess it was too hard to port a PS3 game to Vita? Harder than porting a PS2 game to GBA? Maybe they couldn't think of a way to exploit the mobile market effectively enough to justify the work that would require. I suppose Tony Hawk's Shred Session will have to do. As for 3DS, one of the most successful platforms of the generation and the successor to the GBA, I guess Activision was disappointed in sales of SpongeBob HeroPants or something, and decided that 3DS owners don't really want to play Tony Hawk because of that.

THPS: PS, N64, GBC, Dreamcast
THPS2: PS, PC, GBC, Dreamcast, Mac, GBA, N64, Xbox
THPS3: PS2, PS, GBC, GCN, GBA, Xbox, PC, N64, Mac
THPS4: PS2, PS, GCN, GBA, Xbox, PC, Mac
THUG: PS2, GCN, Xbox, GBA, PC, mobile

THPS5: PS4, PS3, XBO, 360

What the hell is Activision doing? Who gives a shit if the Wii U doesn't have a large install base? They ought to have more confidence in their game. They ought to be willing to take a chance on an extremely popular franchise like this, it's not some big-budget new IP, it's freaking Tony Hawk. If they had any amount of faith in their own game it would be rewarded. Tell people it's worth buying and mean it.

I'm actually surprised that they're only on number 5 after all these years.
But I haven't been interested in playing them since the first one.

SSX Tricky and SSX 3 were basically the last "skating games" I played.

One of my favorite games of all time. The graphics and open nature of that game is impressive.

I just think they should give the WiiU a chance with this game. They are releasing Guitar Hero Live for it after all.

I don't see the correlation between those two sentences.  Your first sentence is basically a pipe dream of "it'd be nice if all consoles got all games".  Your second sentence is... that they're being generous by putting one of their other games on a console that's struggling worldwide so that should extend to this too?  That there's an overlap between peripheral-led rhythm party games and extreme sports games?

I mean yes, it would be nice if all consoles capable of running a game got it.  Means I'd get a load more Vita games.  I'm sure they'd make a small profit of a Tony Hawk game on WiiU so it would be "worthwhile", but like all western third parties these days, I don't think they're particularly fussed about making a small profit when they could be doing other things with those resources.

Both Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk have done well on Nintendo consoles. Thats the correlation...

By cross gen, do they mean 6th generation?

If they're going to go crossgen would it really hurt to at least give it a port to Wii U?

I think they would've made at least a bit of money on there.
