You can still play single player modes you just get banned from the online part same as with MS and Sony. And you only get banned from the online part of said game that you get banned in. So all your other games are fine.

It's buried in the FAQs. Thanks.

It's still bad, but if you buy a game whose online is reliant on publisher infrastructure you have only yourself to blame when they ban you arbitrarily or end support or whatever.

It's a tiny bit scary because of how it could be abused, yet...I'm leaning toward it being pretty cool.

This could go both ways so we should Wait and see how it turns out

There's some immature devs out there, I remember that whole Jim Sterling thing and there was another utuber I forgot, devs can easily abuse this.

Valve is clealry changing for the worse. We know third publishers will abuse this system and use it against modders in singleplayer games. I can see it happening in the future.

More power to publishers is bad. Especially because Valve will simply redirect gamers to said publishers instead of making an actual investigation themselves.

Gives them more time to actually make games again.

So to clarify:

I can buy a game from "Studio X" that prominently features online multiplayer for as much as $60. If a developer does not want me to play their game online, be it for good or bad reasons, they can remove my ability to use large portions of their product without providing any compensation AND publicly shame me. Valve themselves will only interfere reluctantly at most and probably won't help out.

What exactly do I gain from this? Cheaters are not fun to play with, but I rarely run into them. This looks like Valve is trying to treat a boil by cutting off the limb it's on.

This could end up being really helpful or very harmful... it really depends, so I'm not sure if this is go or bad yet.. Will just have to wait and see

I feel as if this can go either way. Either it will be an awesome innovation or it will just lead to another riot against valve.

yeah but in the end look where that got them, look at those little/slightly big devs who went up against Jim,TB, Joe and others, one after another those devs got slapped by the likes of Jim and TB, Jim especially since whenever he's slagged by a dev then TB signals, sam with Joe and everyone else and then eventually the dev is slagged in return, sometimes banned from Steam and known for the rest of time just how much of a douche, untrustworthy and childish they are.

We need more people like Jim who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and criticise when and where needed instead of praised out the arse and getting free passes, the more devs that get shamed for being cheap, slagging off and just doing plain tripe with their games the better because then it teaches upcoming devs not to pull the same stunts or they will simply fail and get shunned out of the industry.
