Forums - Nintendo - Amiibo Support may come to Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee

The question is if they actually make amiibo how do they make up for it on other consoles/PC??
Do they just give us the amiibo stuff as cheaper DLC?? Or do they say fuck you to a majority of thier fans??
Its kind of important they they try to treat all fanbases equally, not doing so could seriously hurt thier business.

I imagine the majority of their fans / sales will be on Nintendo. The Wii U has great indie sales for bigger games as I recall, and they are still tied to Nintendo in many gamer's hearts.

You're thinking about it wrong. Its not about the content it unlocks. Its about the Amiibo itself. Not just for Nintendo, but for Playtonic and for their fans. They want to create a Nintendo experience, as evidenced by their releasing it on a N64 flashcart. Amiibo would validate and give the full Nintendo experience.

Besides I think the Wii U version will sell better than all versions.... except for PC.

Who honestly thinks of Amiibo as a feature that validates the Nintendo experience?  Also there is no chance of the Wii U version outselling the PS4 version, I can't even think of any third party game that has ever done that, even Rayman Legends which was highly advertised on the Wii U early on, and released on the PS3 first so it was late on PS4 and many Sony gamers already bought it, still sold more on PS4.

And another thing Nintendo is obviously gonna fail to keep this amiibo in stock which means less DLC sales for the developer.

Why did you see so many people trying to push their characters to end up on Smash? Not just the publicity, but because they want to be a part of the Nintendo experience. If their character gets into Smash they also get an Amiibo. An Amiibo that people will lust after because it will be rare.

And yes, I do think it will sell better on Wii U. I think that this game will most likely end up being given away as a free PS+ game when no one buys it for PS4.

If playtonic deliver a masterpiece 3D platformer perhaps Nintendo might be wise to acquire them.

So releasing on Sony's last gen system first and getting the game on PS4 late after many Sony gamers already played the game wasn't enough of a handicap for the Wii U version to sell more?  It needed 7 monthes of exclusivity then the Wii U version would have a big enough handicap to sell more than the PS4 version...your really just helping my arguement.

Delays effect people though.

Plus you are comparing an ip that started and grew with ps compared to a spiritual sucessor to a game that Nintendo fans/ some microsoft fans grew up with.

Okay give me any other third party game on Wii U that would make a better comparison?

Because they want to play as them?  You have no way of knowing that people wanted their characters in smash just because they wanted an amiibo of them.

Skylanders is techinically a platformer

but anyway thats literally the only multiplatform platformer I can think of.

Rayman techinically grew up on PS.

EDIT:

It would have done more if Ubisoft didnt delay the finished prodeuct on wii u for 7 months.

This is a gamebeing made by devs Nintendo fans grew up to love their creations with

it has a chance doing best on wii u.

You do realise Rayman Legends was firstly a Wii U exclusive, that then became multiplat, which then became delayed and sat on shelves for months to release along other versions. If that isnt a recipe to piss on potential sales i dont know what is, i think its sold remarkably well on Wii U all things considered.

And like I already said it came late to the PS4 and that was after the PS fanbase had already bought the game on PS3.  Comparing the Wii U to the PS4 version gives a heavy handicap to the Wii U version.

There aren't any, because Nintendo never threw out any more beloved IPs after they shat the bed with Rare. Possibly because the Nintendo fanbase has been shouting at them about it ever since. Hell NoA has a memorial to Banjo-Kazooie among their decorations.

The only non-Nintendo Banjo Kazooie game was dreadful, possibly bad enough to balance out the retro-Rare fans on Xbox, and on PS4 it is just another indie game because, lets face it, most PS4 owners are likely life-long Playstationers or at best owned a Wii.

So its not okay including a game that originated on the PS decades ago that only the really hardcore probably remember and has many Wii exclusive games basically making it more closely associated with Nintendo recently, but it is okay using a game that was heavily bundled and associated with Nintendo.  See the irony?
