I waited for the shield to go up, then concentrated on the "shield" satellite in the centre of the room, it still took like 3 minutes to kill it, (On foot) by which time Vita had gone from about 20% health to around 75%, and killed me shortly after the shield dropped.

Are you really that bad at the game? Once you know what you have to do, you should be able to get the boss's health down quickly, move on to the satellites and then back to the boss. Maybe one of your party members' level 30 skell will go down in the process, but your own level 50 skell should be almost at full health. The time it takes to kill a satellite shouldn't be longer than 20 seconds once you've identified the correct one.

I don't remember any specific names for the satellites, just kill the ones that are vulnerable. The rest will resolve itself.

I must be pretty bad, cos yeah, even at a 53-45 advantage, I couldn't get much further than killing the shield satellite.

So is there no way to know which satellite to kill except to attack each one in turn and see which one loses health the quickest?

Okay, well I found out that Caesar the Hundred-Eyed (Level 68 Tyrant in the lava cave in northern Primordia) is amazing for power levelling.

Once I get to level 60 I should be able to brute force Vita.

My concern now is what about the real final boss? I don't know who it is precisely, but I have been warned he is ridiculously hard, with really annoying overpowered attacks and minions.

Also not sure which augments I should equip before going.

With your level 60 skells you shouldn't have any problems, however I do remember beating the minions pretty easily, just try to get weapons with arts that hit multiple enemies.

The true final boss himself is not that hard so your skells should be able to deal with him easily

I worded that wrong; my on-foot blokes will be level 60 soon; my skells are two level 50s and two level 30s. I can't afford an all-50s team.

Was going to try to beat the Vita on foot so I can save my skells for what comes after.

That's ok, two level 50 skells should be more than enough

Damn, well if you want to beat the vita with your skell you should get a level 50 weapon with an art that deals gravity damage and has a chance to stagger the vita, that way you can bind it. You can also get augments to deal extra damage to mechanoids and equip them to that weapon. There is also a skell weapon with an art that reduces gravity resistance so you can get that as well.

Feeling pretty confident now vs Vita, now worried about the final boss...

Let us know the outcome of the battle once you are done

Okay, got all my guys to level 60, but I'm too broke to afford augments and just realized what my problem likely was; some of my team's weapons are still like level 13/20. (Some are 50 though)

I'm too impatient to wait for my probes to mine more miranium/money, so I'm gonna go ahead and give it a try tonight, but if I fail again, I can just revert to my current save.
