True enough, I'm excited for the challenge. Its been a long time since we haven't had handholding. People seem to forget that Xenogears was pretty obtuse in the player learning of its game mechanics as well.

I wouldn't call that a good thing. Xenoblade 1 didn't have this problem, and it was a complex JRPG too.

I wouldn't call it challenging at all. There's nothing difficult about reading a manual. There's also nothing fun, engaging, or immersive about reading a manuel, hence the issue.

If one decides to read the manual instead of going through the trials and errors of figuring out the mechanics for ones self (yet again as I had with Xenogears). I find it hard to believe the people that this will appeal to will have to read a manual to get its mechanics.

84 seems a bit low. I blame Cloud and in part Curl.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

84 meta? That's it. Done with meta. Done with this world.

Certainly lower than I wanted, but around what I expected after watching numerous youtube videos. I actually didn't expect 70 to be the lowest score.

Hmm 84, a bit lower than I expected...

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I do hope that you can figure out things yourself if you just spend enough time with the game. With a game this vast the complexity adds to the exploration part and therefore is a big plus for me, except if it's totally impossible to learn2begud without external help.

Did it not? Even in my third playthrough I was reading the in-game manuals on gems, gem-crafting,etc.  The manual is a requirement to enjoy that game just as much as this one. From the looks of it the issue with Xenoblade Chronicles X is just that it has more of the complicated systems, how it is demanded of you to learn about them seems no different.

This is an old-school RPG experience, The game probably require patient and love for the genre. Put, this game in the hand of a reviewers that doesn't like the genre and it's doom to displease. But, I was always worried that Monolith Soft was trying to build a world that was even bigger then the original Xenoblade. I would much rather get a shorter more streamlined experience and somewhat smaller world then a stretch out experience that feels more like a chores at time then having fun playing a video game.

While I did get the hang of the crafting system (atleast I think so) without help I didn't realise the characters could give stuff to each other until I was close to the end. If the game ever explained it I totally missed it. But I didn't mind as I enjoy discovering new elements like that. Well, as long as the game is good that is.
