A lot of people expected X to get The Last of Us style scores. After hearing about how X is the Second Coming of Christ I guess they didn't expect a 34/40.

Source? Most people expect the game to get similar scores to the original, which is a 92%.

FFXIII didn't get a perfect score. You're thinking of XIII-2.

Oh, for some reason, I thought I heard 13 got the perfect score. I never played 13-2, since 13 was so atrocious.

It got a 39, so your point stands!

They did give my favorite FF a perfect score though (XII) :)

Persona 4 got a 33 back in the day. yet it's an acclaimed title here in the West. Skyward Sword got a 40, yet does it have that level of acclaim here? Bloodborne got a 36, yet it's PS4's highest rated title to this day.

Suddenly a 34 in Famitsu translates into a 75 in Metacritic? 

I say Famitsu is not a right way to predict critical performance here in the West, let's just wait for proper Western reviews. 

And still, guys, 34 is technically an 8.5 which is really good. 



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

It's just one review, and it's still a reasonably good review. If it was a trend then perhaps there's some argument to be drawn but with the game coming out in a week, then why not just wait and see more?

At any rate it's far from over for the game, and it's far from the end of the Wii U. Different people have different tastes and taking one lone review (or four, given how Famitsu works), whilst it's all we have, doesn't make a lot of sense to me when we can get a load more feedback and opinions in a week.

It got ridiculous, because Puzzle&Dragons got such an irreal good score. Not saying that is wrong, I'm waiting for P&D to release here (although I may prefer Z, but we europeans get both games for the price of one). But surely western reviewers will not rate P&D at 90.

That's true, but at the same time it's tough to use the score for a game which is from a completely different genre and thus, has different "criteria" to fulfil, as any sort of metric from a single publication. 

And as you say it's very unlikely that P&D will do so well in the West (though that's another matter altogether), so let's see rather than going crazy and burning our Riki plushies.

The Last of Us style scores? If so, we shall wait Western reviews to arrive first.

Everyone: please refrain for attacking each other in an aggressive or passive-aggressive way. Tossing around insults like "salty" and "butthurt" aren't helping an already tense environment in this thread. Similarly, don't make generalizations about groups of fans and don't make accusations if you can't provide concrete evidence to back them up.

Remember, this is a thread about review scores. It's not an excuse to libel each other.

Ocarina of Time got 32/40? :O XD

People put far too much weight on a single sounce's scoring and 34/40 objectively is actually a pretty decent score. I don't give a crap what XCX gets on Meta Critic, I just hope it hits my lofty hopes of a true successor to Xenoblade Chronicles which EGM felt was merely worth 65%.
