Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is it worth getting a Wii U?

Buy it. There are definitely more than enough games to play for it, and amazing AAA content coming out this year.

Personally, I'd rebuy a Wii U for Xenoblade X if anything happened to my current Wii U.

Xenoblade X will hold you over until Zelda U, no doubt.

Had mine since day one, and love it. If you missed out on that many Generations this is an excellent console to buy. Not sure what offerings they have in Romania on the eShop but I bought all kinds of Mario Virtual Console games from past systems. I love being able to get my Retro gaming on while only having one Nintendo console under my TV.

If you like great fun current gen games. There is no other machine to get.

You will miss out on the generic shooters like new CoD games and Battlefield and games like GTA and obviously the exclusives but they are few and most of them arent that great. I understand if anyone would want a PS4/Xbox to get those games but you will also get games that will never appear on another console Like Smash, Mario Kart, Bayonetta, Donkey Kong Coutry, Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, NSMBU, Wonderful 101, Kirby, Captain Toad, Lego City, Hyrule Warriors and so on. And obviously Zelda and Xenoblade to name a few.

My PS4 is collecting dust, waiting for Uncharted and No Mans Sky (granted I havnt played Bloodbourne yet it is supposed to be awesome), my brothers Xbox has barely been touched but I use my Wii U on a daily basis.

Well, the Wii U is definitely the place to go for local MP. It definitely has the games to verify the purchase, so I guess it's up to you if you want it. You could wait for a price drop maybe.

I have my Wii U connected at the same time to a PC Monitor for hd games through an hdmi cable, and to a CRT with component cables. I think it is the only console this gen in which you can do that.
I play Wii and Virtual Console games on the CRT with 480i resolution.

I love being able to do that.

Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Smash Bros are enough to make the console worth it.
I have also been playing Wii games on it, I bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the Metroid Prime Trilogy digitally, those are 4 highly acclaimed, the first Metroid Prime and Mario Galaxy 2 are among the best games ever with a Metacritic of 97.

If you got the cash just buy every console. They will all have exclusives worth playing.

Get up right now and go buy one. And then preorder Splatoon while you're at it.

Are u a fan of or interested in at least a handful of Nintendo franchises?

If yes, get a Wii U

If no, don't get a Wii U

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I think the decision with respect to games should be pretty clear. You can see what's already out, we know the big hitters that are coming this year, we know some of the big hitters from next year and can make educated guesses about some others. If you're not compelled by the gaming landscape thus far I doubt whether anything will come out next year or the year after that will change that, unless of course you are the kinda of person that buys a system for the a single game.

If you are compelled by the games (I am) then I say go for it, but the other question is should you wait? If fifty bucks matters to you and you are willing to wait a few months, then at least wait for E3 and see if there is any news about a price cut. I doubt anything you see at E3 is less likely to make you want the system but more information never hurts. Personally I think we won't see a price cut until closer to the end of the year but I still wouldn't bet my house on it happening even then. Are you willing to wait that long?

If you are compelled by the games and fifty bucks doesn't make that much difference then the question becomes, what are you waiting for?
