is dlc out of control?

yes 155 76.73%

no 46 22.77%

Total:201

The fatalities are a blatant cash grab. But the whole unlocking crypt items for $20 and then subsequently patching the game post launch (after reviews) to substantially increase the in-game cost of every item in the Krypt is what's truly appalling. There is seriously a line that needs to be drawn here. Not only are they charging people for what is already on the disc, they are intentionally making the grind to unlock items in the game very tedious so as to make people spend money to unlock them quickly.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE this kind of carrot baiting mobile gaming microtransactions that publishers do. In the case of MK X it's just shamelessly displayed in front of your very eyes with the latest patch. What's worse is that they clearly introduced the patch post launch so that reviewers would not face this issue and so it wouldn't affect their reviews. Despicable.

It's really a bit crazy that tiny things like these are monetized now. As long as I don't get these options shoved into my face I'm fine with it though.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

there is no day one dlc... if you got the game day one goro is unlocked

as for fatalities why would i care if someone can pay to do one easier or not... the actual in fight fighting mechanics aren't changed

essentially all that is changed is the ending animations for the fight

however i must say that if in game unlocks were made substantially more difficult to influence the consumer to use microtransactions that would have me pissed

I would love to say I am, but I'm not buying MKX anyways.

It`s too late. It`s the team`s best selling game in the franchise.

I am very much against the practices being done in MKX, but I`m not sure this is the best action to do against it. The game should sell on the game itself. If the game really is a good product, it should sell well. Optional things that don`t affect the game by any means shouldn`t negatively affect the sales of the game if it`s a solid title.

I do think the small dlc options are outright terrible though, and should not be continued. It devalues what is overall a great game.

i think what you have said highlights the divide that there is between us. i believe full heartedly that the best action is to just not buy it whereas others think that the best action is to just not buy the dlc. i am of the opinion that the game should not be bought in general because the game itself is incomplete. it is a 60 dollar game that gives you less than it would have if it came out ten years ago. that is a huge problem. and by purchasing the game, youre telling them that you are willing to settle for less content at the same price. it certainly is the best action to take

games were more expensive in the past

also mortal kombat x has the average roster size for a mortal kombat game with the addition of 3 variations per character

can you demonstrate how there is any truth to what you posted there?

i will wait for this, because there are other priorities to buy beside Mortal X, maybe waiting the price to become cheap.

In 2005, PS2 games were $50.00 brand new. In 2015, that comes out to $60.00. The difference? Most of today's $60.00 games aren't complete like the $50.00 games on PS2 were.

You can support the practice, but it's absolutely factual that we're spending the same for less.

They should make another shaolin monks, that was a fun game for me!

I'm not going to buy it. Not because of dlc, because i just can't get into fighting games anymore.

Will hold untill it hits 15 dollars. Haven't bought SSBU because of dlc pratices, Nintendo shouldn't be forgiven.

And where is your 50% marketshare thread that I can't find?
