Sorry, but nope. 140,000 are just too much.

If PS4 was at 20,340,000, Sony was annunced more than 20,300,000, not more than 20,200,000...

Over 20,200,000 and 140,000 overtracked isn't the only possibility... for all we now, the "over 20,200,000 can be anything from  20,200,001 to 20,299,999" so saying that the "over 20,200,00" is leading to a 140,000 overtracked is realy Bias... it can be something like 40,001 is the "over 20,200,000" is something like 20,299,999...and 40,001 is just to small...

Ok... maybe is not overtracked by 140,000, but IS overtracked.

PS4 the week ending 28 February 2015 is overtracked, that is what i said.

for instance sony's internal tracking was 20,280,000 and they felt there internal tracking could be +- 70,000 that would be a range of 20,210,000 to 20,350,000.
So they are confident that it is over 20,200,000 but it could be even more than what are listed here.

...? Sorry but i don't understand... any source?

Wow! How long since the last over tracked thread, this thread was long overdue. It used to be a slow on VGchartz.com if there wasn't at least one new X consoles is overtrack threads.

Source to apply basic statistics?

Think about it this way.

I'm 99.5% sure that the sales fall between value A and value B. I'm going to take the lowest of the values and say I'm over that. Hense the term "over" 20.2 million.

I'm giving you a possible example where they would say what they said and the numbers here would still be ok.

The fact is we don't know what Sony's iternal number was.  We don't know what the range is from the number that they have. So trying to be a stickler to the number they said and what it actually means is silly.  Trying to pinpoint then month when you think it happened even silier.

140,000 off…from over 20,000,000…Thats less than 1% margin of error…PRETTY GOOD, imo

Are we really hung up over a difference of 140k now? A possible (but not confirmed) miscalculation of less than 1%? I would say, great tracking from VGC, spot on even.

Agreed 100%

Sony confirmed they sold over 20.2 million as of March 1.

.14 million is over, and reasonable given the time frame. Over 20.2 million does not mean 20.2 million or under.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/playstation4-ps4-sales-surpass-202-million-units-worldwide-300045019.html

PS4 sales data in Japan collected 2/22/2014 – 3/1/2015

PS4 sales data in North America collected 11/15/2013 – 2/28/2015,

in Europe and Latin America collected 11/29/2013 – 2/28/2015,

and in Asia collected 12/17/2013 – 3/1/2015.

Its from the 28th of feburary in NA and EU.

Im not sure but maybe those 4-6 extra days could equal around 140,000 sales?

"Sony have confirmed 20,200,000 PS4 by 1 March 2015.

VGChartz have PS4 at 20,340,000 in the same period." - quote.

Same answear as above.

For NA and EU, the sales numbers are from the 28th of feburary.

Between NA + EU , 4-6days could potentially equal 140,000 sales right?

I was going to quote this post as a means to show what was wrong with this thread, but then I realize there's something seriously wrong with this post.

Agreed 100%

I'm saying...I mean most politcal numbers (surveys & polls) give anywhere from 3% - 5% margin of error.  So 1% is pretty darn accurate

If the people make a treak about Wii U overtracked by 17,000 unit, why i cant make a thread about a possible 140,000 PS4 overtracked?
