What the heck is "cross gen" ? I thought you guys would have already figured out it doesn't matter. Games are made and then optimized not optimized and then made.

Game is cross gen :
1 advantage: I won't have to hurry and buy a PS4 to play it.
1 disadvantage: graphics probably won't be uber since it comes to ps3 too.

I am definitely very excited by this news, so well done Square Enix.

I am guessing 2016/2017 release which makes it bit odd PS3 is base console for development. I'll get it on PS4 though as expect usual graphical polish (60 fps/1080p, etc.)

This is nothing new for the franchise. The original Star Ocean debuted in 1996 on SNES, two whole years after the proper 5th gen started.
