Forums - Gaming - Street Fighter 5 Is "Something That Nobody Is Expecting"

I think they've looked at Netherealm games abd decided to add :

1) story mode
2) unlockable content via completing certain tasks
3) multilayered stages
4) dlc / season pass content instead of releasing Super, Ultra, Arcade editions
5) some sort of create a character & leveling up mode where you can level up your character and earn some sort of skill points to boost stats

E.g

Punch strength
Kick strength
Throw strength
Block strength
Special move strength
Super strength

One can dream

Would that be offline or online MP? Tekken Revolution has something like that, but you just had a character and leveled them up, problem was when I was playing is that there were people who played a lot more than me and had like 100 points on power, when I only had 20 total points over all, so they'd beat me just because their hits took so much off. Online modes should be simple.

Hmm, pie.

"Ono also stressed that Street Fighter V will "cater to fans" of the famous fighting series. But at the same time, Ono said he hopes the game will bring new players into the fold and build off the success of the last game in the series. "Street Fighter IV was about reviving a passion. Street Fighter V is about growing that passion," he said."

So...special moves will be much easier to execute I'm guessing. I hope that's the case.

Lube Me Up

I was expecting more versions of Street Fighter IV so you can already color me surprised. Seriously though, the only way they can legitimately surprise me is to stop re-releasing the same game and instead make DLC. Otherwise I won't be bothered learning a damn thing about SFV.

Well, I'm expecting a fighting game where most people will pick Ken/Ryu/Akuma for online battles. SURPRISE ME CAPCOM!

That's down to the player and not the game, SSF4 had an achievement to rank each fighter up to C rated online (approx 20 wins) with 44 characters that meant that they were at least encouraging 800ish games from players not using the SF2 roster, also of course hoping that people would discover a fighter they hadn't used before and perhaps main them from trying to get that achievment. It was actually gaining my "Shiny C" that I found just how good SF4 chun-li can be and have mostly switched to main her instead of Blanka now.

That said, a few weeks back myself and a friend played 2 sessions of street fighter, one night of Ryu V Ken matches and the other Night of Ken Vs Ryu, think we played around 120 games in total and can say it was still really enjoyable to try to 1 up each other while using more or less the same set of tools. Could I just suggest if you are confident in only coming up against Ryu/Ken online just main a counter character for those 2 and drill them into the ground?

Looking at that table of match ups Adon+Rose are both highly rated against Ryu or if you want to just go for Ryu countering you have Dhalsim who rates 6/4 against Ryu, basically you're 20% more likely to win a match vs an equally skilled person just by picking Dhalsim alone.

That said http://www.eventhubs.com/tiers/sf4/

Ryu comes in at number 20 in the tier list of 44 characters so he isn't the peak of Street Fighter by any means, his counter character being number 41 would mean that in most other matchups Dhalsim would put you at a disadvantage but that is the price for playing the tier lists.

I would have it like an adventure mode like in the Soul Calibur series, but then offer an online mode similar to Iron Banner matches in destiny where players within a certain level can fight each other

You know that with the exception of SF4 every other version of street figher 4 can be added onto Super Street fighter 4 as a dlc expansion Super Street fighter 4:Arcade Edition, SSF4:AE 2012 (free), Ultra Street fighter 4, Ultra Street fighter 4 - Omega mode (free). They all can be gotten from xbl or psn as additions to the SSF4 disk/download version.

It kinda sounds like you already aren't bothered about the previous versions of street fighter which have the feature you are asking them to add...

Make a Vita version and I will buy it.

I would be all over that like flies on shit.... SSF4:3d pretty much is permanently in my 3ds and while Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street fighter X Tekken, Blaz Blue, MK9, Tekken 6, Soul Calibur broken destiny are all on my Vita.... I just want some straight up Street fighter action.

I was just talking about my experience with the game, and what I expect to continue. I also think it's a little silly to make an achievement to force players to play every character of a game, but whatever.

So you want capcom to try to encourage people to not use certain characters but not to have a carrot to give people a reason to play those characters online in games? The achievements set for SF4 is pretty cool in that if you were to aim to get a decent amount of them it would guide you through some of the trials and single player portions before dunking your head into the online world which would have players put off getting into the game more because of being TKO'd by people basically. Thought they done a great job with the layout of them.
