The Smash Bros Shulk figurine is a given, but hopefully Nintendo will announce new Amiibo for this game as well. Given its expected drop date and the fact that Splatoon is getting Amiibo, this is probably not going to get a new set however. Which means at best the Amiibo cards down the line or various amiibo offer random effects like in Hyrule Warriors.

Which sucks because the more I see and hear about this game and its features, the more I think Nintendo might have hit gold with this one.

Are Amiibos limited or available whole time? I can't find Shulk anywhere. And why do they cost 35-40 Euro each in Poland? 0_0

More or less limited for most of the ones released so far. Certain retailers (at least in US, not sure about other regions or countries) get certain figurines and the truth is the characters from the B-tier franchises and below are hard to find.ular

If your favorite isn't a main character from the Mario or Legend of Zelda series, then your Amiibo is limited and probably impossible to find at a reasonable price. The next wave of new ones were sold out upon the announcement of them going on pre-order sales at certain locations.

But all the content you are describing is small and supplemental.  YOU want it, sure, but it's not core to the experience by any stretch.  It's a bonus tossed in for those who DO want the toys.  You don't have to have an Amiibo for every character in smash or every driver in kart etc.  The only game where anything of substance is tied to the game is priced fairly to accommodate.

But I will say the cards could be an excellent way to give the content to those who don't desire the figurines.

I feel like the mii costumes in MK8 have enough substance to where it doesn't seem fair to those who only want the content. Like I said, to someone who likes Amiibo, they get one nice little bonus custume. Do someone who doesn't care about them, they are loosing out on 19 custumes.

But yes, all I really want is a cheaper alternative to them. People will still buy the toys, because that's what they are mainly interested in. The extra functionality are merely their external gimmick.

I guess what I mean is that they aren't core to the experience.  Removing those costumes entirely wouldn't effect what's there.  This is opposed to if they unlocked drivers.  It think the cards could be a huge hit though.  People who are only interested in few or no Amiibo may be interested in the cards for their ease of storage and lower price.

I watched that video yesterday and it really made me more hyped for the game than before

The most interesting info the translation gave me was on the Network stuff. Very interesting setup that should help preserve the singleplayer experience.
