Uh, and? What I said remains true.

No, it isn't. Sales aren't good for the system as the main point was to move consoles, just like 3D Land sold 3DS.

And the thread is asking which would have sold better, and it's clear that 64-2 or Galaxy 3 would have performed better than 3D World.

Not my main point or even a point, for I never said anything about moving consoles.

And that's your opinion, which is fine. The only thing I really had issue with was saying what everyone thinks as if anyone could know that.

I would say Galaxy 3.

I guess people are thinking Galaxy sold the Wii and not the other way around. :L

I think the multiplayer got lots of buyers to SM3DW.
A galaxy 3 with multiplayer would sell better than 3D world.

Mario Galaxy 3 > Mario 64 successor > 3D World

So, going by the poll, over 90% of us agree 3D World wasn't the best choice commercially speaking.

I reckon it went both ways; the Wii's explosive success gave Galaxy a large userbase on feed off, but at the same time, Galaxy brought in a lot of "core" gamers to Wii by showing it could produce visually impressive and conceptually ambitious games, and that "look, Mario is epic and cool again, no more hosing graffiti off tropical resorts!"

I actually don't think there would be a huge difference in sales between the three.

This is just some people trying their hardest to shoe horn their personal preferences down everyone else's throats.

The Galaxy games actually, given that they had a 100 million userbase to sell to and managed about 10 million and 7 million or so respectively, whereas 3D Land sold about 9.5 million on the 50 million 3DS base and 3D World is going to likely finish in the neighbourhood of 5 million on a 17-18 million ... if we're talking relative to user base, 3D World/Land games more than hold their own.

Galaxy series was obviously helped hugely by the Wii Sports/Wii Fit crazes.

I very much doubt the "soccer moms and senior citizens" were playing a core 3D platformer.

100 million userbase helped all the Mario games.

Mario 3D World would've sold 10 million easy on the Wii, probably more actually due to its multiplayer gameplay.

The large userbase definitely helped, but I reckon the Wii Fit/Sports casuls comprised a smaller percentage of that 100 million than people think; the kind of people who only got into the Wii as a weight loss machine or because Wii bowling didn't require complex controls would not be playing a more sophisticated game like Mario Galaxy.
