Your forgetting the price though, it would be a lot more expensive than what the GCN was. Likely would have sold a lot worse than the Wii really did.

Yea but I don't think that would have mattered cause it would have been so revolutionary. I mean, the ps2 was $300 and it sold a lot so I think this would have worked even if it was more expensive cause it would look so futuristic

Wii would have been not that successful. It takes a legacy out of GC.

The curse of the GC is all Nintendo's fault. There is no way you can get around it. The company is just had to dealt with for outsiders. Wii's & Kinect crazes are fads that happen once in a blue moon and die quickly. Nintendo's issues are with third party and Nintendo is extremely archaic in their thinking despite their obvious talent.

I wouldn't be. I'm tired of that game and it's revisionist (GOAT) history. Back when it launched, people my age (21 and over) panned it. It was good, but that's it. The people who claim it's some mega godly, epic adventure are usually in their early to mid 20's, who are blinded my their own nostalgia. Good game, not great. 

As for the OP's question, I think Nintendo would have bombed had they released the Wii during the PS2 era. Back then, much like right now, core gamers ruled the industry. No one would have wanted to play a game like Wii Sports back in those days. Not enough violence, blood and mature content. That's the reason why Gamecube failed in the first place. PS2 had GTA. Xbox had Halo. Gamecube? Metroid Prime. I loved that game to death but bringing it up online was a death sentence. 


You are so off! The reason PS2 sold wasn't because of core gamers it was because of casuals. PS2 sold the most because it played DVDs, I remember. Working at Blockbuster at the time I would always hear people say "they bought a PS2 so they  wouldn't have to buy a DVD player too"
