*sigh*
His tone seems sarcastic, it also has hints of truth in it.
His point is that policies like this, as well as other factors, are indirectly pushing away potential customers by limiting visibility. I have a strong feeling that most Wii U owners are already familiar with Nintendo systems. Youtubers are just one way of reaching new audiences, while no one knows exact numbers, dismissing them outright seems illogical.
People subscribed to GameXplain and other channels are ALREADY Nintendo fans. So right now Nintendo is engaging very few people outside its core/limited fanbase. This is one of the reasons I why was/am critical of Nintendo Directs, most normal or casual gamers dont know about them!
Joe has tons of subs and the good will he could have generated could have meant something in terms of mind share but now that ship has sailed.
Maybe I'm missing something, how does Nintendo benefit from this program? How do they benefit from him not posting videos? Apart from censoring and stifling any footage or criticism they don't approve.... And controlling which games you can and cant talk about...

Well like I said, Nintendo sales don't work as other companies sadly, I wish they did, and I wish that Nintendo had that price policy of other companies. This really isn't the thread to even have a smart discussion about it. I agree with your sentiments that I have fewer Wii/WiiU titles than I do the other companies, but that is also because of third party support... etc. I think I will leave this thread soon, both sides are sort of annoying me.
One side thing youtubers are greedy as hell and should be lucky to have nintendo support them, the other are just using this an excuse to troll Nintendo. I will say if you want to get informed about ContentID, please use other sources than Joe. He doesn't really cover the issues well either.

The Wii U seems cheap until you start throwing in accessories. Pro controllers, LAN adapters, Nunchucks, Wiimotes, Harddrives, Games that never drop in price and then amiibo if you're really into it. That stuff ain't cheap. |
He also really didn't pay for it....I really wish he didn't say he did. A lot of people specifically donated to him, so he would have one.

And insulting a whole fanbase is a productive way to express one's message how? "Extremely nostalgia bias" is generally an insult. There is no other way to cut-it.

You are kind of right. WiiU is not chep. But you dont really need any of those things. The gamepad is good enough, wiimotes/nunchucks are only for wii games and some few party games that hardcore gamers don´t really want, the hardrives are not need it because the console doesnt pre-install the games, it reads them from the disk so you can download 32GB of indie games if you want as long you buy retail games. And amiibo is almost useless for most of the games.

it doesnt really matter where the money is coming from
The funny thing here is that both PS4 and XBO have ways of sharing the content right in their own console. To me it's like Nintendo is so far behind the curve on this and so many other things, and just think its about revenue being earned by these people. It's about making people excited about your games/content and allowing them to share their gaming experiences. Thats what this youtube generation is about.
