Forums - Gaming - I'm ready. Advise me on my 8th-gen console purchase.

Which console should I buy

PS4 62 46.62%

Xbox One 10 7.52%

Wii U 46 34.59%

just get a PC, loser 15 11.28%

Total:133

So I may assume that you haven't played games like Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, ZombiU, Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, among others? Because the Wii U is the only console I can recommend, don't own any of the others.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Only one?

3DS, Xbox One and Wii U.
Best exclusives, Fire Emblem Awakening, Rise of Tomb Raider, Scalebound, Halo 5, Smash Bros 4, Zelda ect.
Great hardware.
X1 has plenty of Multiplats

I already have a 3DS. Xbox One and Wii U adds up to over $500 in hardware expenses even if I buy them used. That is something I'd like to avoid. You also named Halo 5 -- do you really think it is worth buying for the campaign alone?

I give your reply a Didn'tReadOP/10.

Yes, I only scanned the big paragraph, sry! (But awesome you have the greatest console in history imho.)

The recent trailers for Halo seem like the story will be very intresting. Same things from different perspectives could happen, or one is true or false. A mystery, for now.

I for one am buying a X1 and never paying for Xbox Live bullsht, so I think the Halo 5 campaign will be worth it, for me. Of course, I would have other games too.

I dunno. Wii U also have great excluisves like Smash or Bayonetta's. Maybe get one first next week, then the other during Black Friday?

Make a list of games after E3, see where each of the big three is heading and then decide which selection of games suits your tastes. Then wait again until the holidays for better deals.

Also, I read that you're buying one next month, I just ignored that bit.

I enjoy my Wii U thanks to the awesome first party content so far. I only owned one since last summer though. But if you're interested in Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros. 4, and 3D World, I'd say it's worth it!. You can get a refurbished one from Nintendo for only $225 that comes with Nintendo Land and 3D World.

Click here to take a look.

And if you're bothered about the limited stock of GC - Wii U adapters, trying buying Mayflash's adapter that has 4 ports as well! Not only can I not detect any lag* but I can also use it for my PC emulators like Project 64 and Visual Boy Advance and various other PC games. It even supports rumble for some N64 games!

*disclaimer: I'm not a tournament level Smash player but I have played Smash bros since melee and am generally okay with the game.

However if you're a big batman fan, there's a PS4 sku with batman cover and the new batman game for 449$

I would go with the PS4 ( No surprise there given the name ), now as to why you should go with the ps4. Now for my biased opinion aside I think you should go with the Xbox one, and here's why:

1. Cheaper ( Yes I know you've already saved up but this is always a plus point )
2. Has the best exclusives coming out this year and not remasters ( The Ps4 and Wii U have both had their heavy hitters for the year post poned)
3. Works as a social status in the United states, therefore making it easier to get new friend ( Seriously a game of Halo amoung 20 something adults is always popular in the states )
4. Has the multiplats the Wii U doesn't have.
5. I am a Ps fanboy but I'm recomending the Xbox one ( atm ) that's saying something.

I feel so dirty.

Up to you to decide, really

Oh, I'll make my own choice. I'm not going to leave it in the hands of VGChartz. Just want to know what people think.

I've played some of 3D World & ZombiU, and most of Pikmin 3 but I would play it again and again and again.

Honestly, if you could wait...I'd say make a decision sometime after E3. My fanboy reaction is to tell you to get a WiiU. That's because I love the games that Nintendo makes and I think the WiiU is a great way to play them. However, if Nintendo's about to set it out to pasture, and knowing Nintendo's tendency to make their new systems backwards compatible, then maybe you would want to end up holding off until Gen 9. It really saddens me to say that, and I do hope that Nintendo gives everyone real reasons, very near reasons, to grab themselves their little tablet/console hybrid.

Beyond that...your guess is as good as mine and I'll defer to people who have experience with modern Microsoft/Sony systems.

I'd say PS4. It's cheaper than the Xbox One (I think) although still more expensive than the Wii U. But it will also have the most variety in games of any 8th gen console. You've already said there are games on it that you'd enjoy playing and the PS4 is the most likely to provide you with more in the future simply because the huge number of games in every possible genre it will be getting. It will have all the great multiplat games as well as Sony's impressive first party line up.

Wait where does he live if it's cheaper than Xbox one? And I would personally say wii u because with has the biggest library of exclusives. Unless you're only going to get one console, then Xbox oneb

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

get a PS4,

best looking multi-plats, tons and better exclusive like JRPGs and first party games. The sony exclusive tend to be the best looking games as well in this generation = Knack, Driveclub, the Order, Bloodborne, Infamious Second Son, Killzone all games who shine out the most in each genre. Free to play games online is still free.

Its the best all-round machine if you can only buy 1 system

Well I decided to get one next month because I'll have a lot of free time during the summer to play games. Won't have as much time around the Holidays.

I must say I'm surprised with the number of people answering XBO given how badly it's getting thrashed in the poll. They have good reasons too.
