Hehe, I'd suggest you a PS3, even though it isn't exactly 8th gen.
But to properly answer your question, XBO or PS4, because off the multiplats. Or PC if that's an alternative.

I have a ps4 and xbone. Ps4 hands down, I will own a wii u when they go bargain bin because I grow tired of their games quickly. I'm sure it's a good console and I collect every console but not in any hurry on the wiiu. If you absolutely love Nintendo games then what I said should be irrelevant. Ps4 offers most variety in my opinion.
With no intention of paying for online I'd say go with the PC, has loads of exclusives, great multiplats, free online and many places to buy games from your choosing, cheaper prices and overall better graphics without much limitations (except the hardware you choose).
I'd go with PC as primary and if there was a second choice a Wii U would suffice.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
PS4 for longevity and widest range of support from east and west alike. Plus with VR coming next year, you simply have the deepest array of choice with PlayStation.
PC or PS4. PS4 runs virtually all the multiplats better than X1, and will have FAR better exclusives based on the MS / Sony track records. I have them both and PS4 is clearly better outside of main screen interface and TV integration. WiiU is not as good of a console as the Wii, IMO. PC has the most games and TONS of great exclusives. Also unlike most current consoles, PC's don't have current gen and previous gen, you can still play the literally hundreds of amazing PC games that aren't new.
