Story, World & Atmosphere is usually #1 for me for most games.

Things like platforms it's gameplay. Graphics is usually middle ground for me.

Gameplay + Design > anything else. (please note Gameplay also includes PERFORMANCE. If 12FPS you cant really play the game = bad gameplay)

Tetris does not need story.
Mario Kart or Forza dont need story.
etc etc.

Gameplay has to be good otherwhise the game is crap (not an ipinion fact. If you disagree my condolences)
Story and graphics just need to be sufficient.

E.g
Princess is kidnapped you have to save her (is sufficient and enough)
Aliens attack earth. You are a soldier defend earth (sufficient)

Players just need to have a plausible reason for their actions. Everything else is nice but not required. (this does obviously only apply in games where you play a character. There is no need for it in Tetris)

Graphics also just have to be suffcient. They should look like the world makes sense. The world should have a desisgn where everything fits together and that does not look cheap.
If I have PS4 textures on 1 object and PS1 textures on the second object the world falls apart and is not believable. The visuals should have some variation so the player does not get tired/bored (everything looking the same etc) but there is no need for having lifelike humans or rocks with 1billion polygons. If I can see that something is supposed to be a rock then its sufficient enough.

That does not mean that a super ugly game or a very stupid story cant result in a bad game.

Story=Gameplay > Graphics, imo.

While I generally prefer to play games on a PC where I can increase the settings as far as my hardware can handle, that ability doesn't magically make a shitty game awesome. It makes a great game, even better. Story must be there, Gameplay must be there, graphics are an added bonus (though, I think if the graphics are woefully substandard for the look they're intending/timeframe then it can impact things as well).

Gameplay > Graphics > Story.

I enjoy a good story in games, but to me that is a bonus.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Gameplay>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Story>graphics

I'd like to have all 3...

but it would be Gameplay = Story > Graphics

Gameplay>Story>Graphics

I usually regard gameplay as the most important element in a game, BUT it's very important to realise that a game can be excellent having a great story and simpler game mechanics: The Walking Dead from Telltale games is a prime example. And I think the OP actually confuses GRAPHICS with ART STYLE; they're VERY different from one another. Graphics is there to SERVE the art style. Again, this is something The Walking Dead does very well.

A game is at it's best when Gameplay, Story and Art Style helps, supports and serves each others.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
