Forums - Sales - Is This The Year Microsoft Throws In The Towel On Xbox?

I don't see it. Also, I find this question funny after seeing UC4 and LOZ delayed. MS easily has the best holiday lineup and they planned it that way.

they'll always have the best holiday lineup because they don't release stuff the rest of the year

Which is why asking if they should "throw in the towel" during months they don't put much effort is unnecesary.

As always wake me up when it happens.

I think that if the Xbox One doesn't do well this year, Microsoft might throw in the towel and focus on Windows 10 as a gaming platform. With Uncharted being delayed, Tomb Raider as paid holiday exclusives, and more...if it can't win back the US, it's pretty much a lost cause with their traditional strategy, and the focus will probably be on making Windows 10 a success. By throw in the towel, I just mean every Xbox One exclusive will also be on Windows 10. Paid exclusives would probably stop.

I am not saying that Microsoft would leave the console market, but they probably would try to pull another 360 releasing the console fairly early on compared to the competition if they are serious about the console market.

After only two years? Seems a little premature to me.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

No? What kind of question is this? Just because the XBO is selling worse than the PS4 doesn't mean it's selling badly. MS just needs to ride it out and try to profit as much as they can.

No obviously. If it were ever to happen, 2017 at the earliest. They've got lots of coming in 2016 like Gears 4, Scalebound, Crackdown, Rare game etc.

Zelda and Uncharted are delayed. All they need to do is release Halo 5 in a complete, playable, polished condition, and they seriously might close the gap altogether this holiday. Halo has no competition. It'll be a bloodbath. Microsoft would be nuts to drop out now.

$99. that would do it.

With how many games? Kinect? Second controller?

$99 Halo 5 Guardians Bundle and free access to the Hololens beta.

Why would they throw in the towel? Not outselling the ps4 does not equal bad sales.
