You clearly have never played remote play, or don't have your network set up right.
I literally have zero lag, and I've even been able to play resogun 80 miles away from my PS4 (this is a twitchy game).

I've bought a 2DS, and can't really recommend it. It's just such a clumsy format.
I would definitely hold on a bit longer so you can buy a (new) 3ds.
I've got a Vita too, and I really love the system. I do feel a bit sad, because the (physical copy) library is almost getting no new stuff (atleast in Europe, different story in Japan to say the least).

I have played hours on remote play and had zero input lag. I do play the Vita within 2-3 meters of the PS4.
The Vita OLED screen is the best screen I have seen on a handheld, but honestly that difference is not major to me.
It is pretty simple as both are quality hand helds with great libraries, what is your personal perference? To me this is first generation of hand helds to have two compelling systems so cannot go wrong either way.

At the end I'm going with the 3DS, since while the PS Vita has a couple of good games which I really want to play over any game found on the 3DS ( I am a PS fanb** at the end ), I also wanted to try out a couple of Nintendo 3DS games such as Super Smash Bros, lugi's mansion, N64 to 3DS ports and Mario Kart 7. |
Great choice! The N3DSXL has made me appreciate handheld gaming so much more; I definitely recommend it. Of course it has a huge library even outside of the Nintendo staples, though.

I'm not a fan of the 3d feature so I'd opt for the 2DS, but I'm waiting for an XL version.
Being an RPG fan, it would be hard to give up a VITA because of Persona 4 Golden. And then you have Ys: Memories of Celestia. But then you have the PSP RPGs you can play via download to the VITA. But again as an RPG fan, you have the Dragon Warrior, Etrian Odyssey, and SMT franchises on the DS that are backwards compatible with the 3ds/2DS. I have both the DSiXL and PSP so lots of RPGs for me. But my biggest issue with handheld is the fact that they are handhelds (not a fan of small screen). So my PlayStation TV allows me to play Persona 4 Golden on my big screen. Good luck.
Both ?
For me, the 3ds was really great until the end of 2013....but since then, it's really poor for new games.
On the other side, the Vita was bad....until 2014, and now it good lot of games constantly.
It's really 2 different systems, get both if you can.

See my post a few posts up
. Anyways I asked since in the past couple of months I've been going through a phase were one day I am in love with the Vita and another I'm in love with the 3DS, therefore I've been having a hard time choosing which console to buy and can't buy both since I practically only have the money to buy one and buy a suitable library for.
If going the 3DS route, I would strongly advocate getting the New 3DS. Some might disagree but there are at least a few good long threads you can search for that go into the pros and cons in some detail.
