Forums - Gaming - Which Should I Buy?: The Vita Or The 3DS

The Vita is dead.

New 3DS is the handheld to buy. Compelling games and decent hardware. Not as powerful as the Vita, but a better all round device.

I don't think we can make that decision for you, it'll depend on which library of games is more appealing to you. Do you like Pokemon or Persona? Zelda or Uncharted? Mario Kart or Wipeout?

I couldn't decide either, so I own both. They're not that expensive (compared to home consoles) anyway, and you can pick up both for less than a single PS4 or Xbox One.

Personally, I ended up playing the Vita more, probably because it's more like a normal console that you can take with you, and it has a good selection of PS1 and PSP games for it as well.

Can you access the Eshop where you live? You can't play a lot of great no retail games if you can't. Not unless you change your region and pay with a Visa or something

Honestly if games like Killzone and Uncharted are the only reason you want a Vita then I'd just buy a 3DS. Those games are fantastic but those kind of games just aren't plentiful on Vita. BUT if your open to trying new genres then I'd give Vita a shot since it has a MUCH more diverse library when compared to the 3DS.

Thanks guys for all your help. At the end I'm going with the 3DS, since while the PS Vita has a couple of good games which I really want to play over any game found on the 3DS ( I am a PS fanb** at the end ), I also wanted to try out a couple of Nintendo 3DS games such as Super Smash Bros, lugi's mansion, N64 to 3DS ports and Mario Kart 7.

Great choice! :) Once you get the system, there will be many more games you will get interesting in. Which model have you decided to go with?

So this summer apart from finally buying a Ps4, I'm thinking about a handheld to go along my brand new console. I'm still undecided about what handheld on the market I should get, so I reaslly want your guys help to make this decision. Below I listed some plus points to why I want to buy that handheld console.

1. 3DS ( Either a 2DS or New 3DS Xl ( I don't have a charger though ) : Games I want to play ( Super smash brothers, Mario Kart 7, Luigi's mansion ( Various others though their not on top of the priority list ) that's about it for the 3DS, I really want to hear your tips on the Pros which this little handheld has.

2. PsVita ( Remote Play, Games I want to Play ( Bunch of Ps2 ports, The amazing Spider-man, Uncharted, Killzone ), Good bright screen )

Remote play on Vita is crap. It has so much input lag its not even funny. The only use for it would be like turn based RPGs without timing based mechanics. The New 3DS XL screen seems to be brighter than the Vita screen.

3DS chargers cost 1 dollar on ebay (there also is 3DS to USB chargers so you can charge it on your PS360/Wii/WiiU/PC/PS4 etc)

Alot of Vita games get ported to the PS4 you might see Killzone and Uncharted on PS4 in the near future. So from a library perspective I would go for 3DS. But dont waster your money on a MONO 2D only 2DS. Buy the New 3DS XL instead.

I'd say that 3DS at this point. Alot of the PS2 ports that are on the Vita, aside from probably the Ratchet collection and FFX are pretty shoddy ports. Jax And Daxter games are woeful, the God Of War collections aren't great either. It comes to something when you have a Vita and most of the games that offer the most fun for the system are still PSP titles on the store!

I think I'm going to go with the New 3DS Xl but if I'm short of money I don't mind going with the 2DS.

as a playstation gamer i recomend buying the vita, you can play all PSN PSone games, a lot of cross-buy options and trophies are supported too
