So then Nintendo would be making PC exclusives instead.

It wouldn't be a pc, would it? It would be a Nintendo box capable of running steam os. And they would be NX exclusives. Not for other steam machines.

If its backwards compatible... It will use PowerPC... Steam OS and majority of the steam games run on x86... There is no way will this be backwards compatible and be a steam machine... Heck, there is 0 chance of it even being a steam machine even if it wasn't BC and I don't really feel like writing an essay as to why it won't...

But if it is... Then it still won't matter cause most games on Steam are windows only and are not on Linux/SteamOS so this wouldnt help at all and it would probably lead to greater risk of piracy

How in God's name would Linux lead to more piracy? A Linux user is far more likely to pay for a game than a Windows user

OT: No, just no

Linux wouldn't... Steam machine would because you can install windows on a steam machine

Yeah. A steam machine is a PC.

Ohi thought you meant pc as in it runs windows. The NX (in this instance) could be locked to just run steam OS and a separate Nintendo OS.

This NX box could be prohibited from running anything except steam os and Nintendo OS or NX.

Ah, sorry did not get what you meant. Most Steam Machines are coming preinstalled with Windows from what I understand.

I think Steam OS will find moderate success. There are a lot more games on Linux than you would expect as well

Like with pretty much every idea for an alliance that is suggested on these forums, there are no real benefits for Nintendo.

Nintendo carries all the risks in the outlined scenario. If the machine fails, Nintendo is screwed while Valve is completely unaffected. If the machine succeeds against all odds, Nintendo makes Valve rich. So Nintendo might as well do their own thing and make themselves rich.

Shouldn't be hard to understand, you simpleton.

Can you tone down the insults please? If Nintendo sell a ,aside amount of consoles that sell nintendo software, it's hardly a loss for nintendo. Especially when their games would have a massive install base. The valve games would make them zero profit, but 3rd party games currently make the zero profit, and the lack of 3rd party games means people won't buy their consoles. If this idea failed it would affect valve as their biggest producer of hardware for their hopeful new venture, steam OS, would have failed, thus dragging them down.

Iiiiiiiiiit would fail. And I'd buy it anyway.

Hmm, probably not. If this was considered, I doubt it would be this soon. First going mobile to test the waters before expanding even further.

No thanks. I like Steam. But I'm good with it being on my PC.
