Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo going mobile was NOT their most important announcement.

Well, if they're after their lost audience, it would make sense to introduce their app at a big event that gets worldwide coverage, also in mainstream media. So we will probably get to see at least some of their new strategy at E3. I'm just hoping they don't forget to wow us with big fall releases, because especially the release schedule for 3DS is pretty bleak...

I think this fall is pretty much set in stone already. Unless XCX come out in the West way earlier than expected, we'll be getting Star Fox, Zelda, and XCX this fall. Adding more to that would actually be too much.

We'll likely be getting news on 2016 games instead.

I don't think anyone is expecting xenoblade at fall. star fox could either be september or october. only zelda is nearly guaranteed at late november.

The op does make sense, the DeNA partnership was part of the vehicle to create the unified platform.

Yes agree with OP, isn't every body know this already? or it just me?

I don't think it will turn out as glorious as you make it sound. Also Nintendo didn't buy DeNA. They made a partnership and currently hold 10% of their shares.

I didn't read the whole thing to be quite honest, but Apple would never let something as an alternate marketplace happen. And without Apple, Nintendo will fail in mobile.

Reading some more now.

That's what amazon thought too...

Back in November they announced the Mii app, not the Nintendo Network one.

"Iwata says that the app isn’t about making money, but instead strengthens the connection between the company and consumers."

App will be unveiled around the Nintendo full-year results.

Yeah, it's good to hear that they are finally going to unify their systems... 3DS FC, Club Nintendo, NNID all are different and not unified. NoA allowing for online purchases with eShop on your computer/phone was already a first step. But still, Nintendo still has a lot of catching up to do first
