brown is a color too.

p.s. many xbox and playstation gamers who would say that about nintendo games, would say the eact same about such games on their own systems.

The thing is that those games aren't for kids. They're family friendly. That's a nuance that I think is very important.

On a PS console, having that kind of game sure is a breath of fresh air. Since there are so few of them. But I agree that those who say that would say the same about those games on their own systems.

It's a little annoying that these kind of OP generalize entire fanbases, based on the comments and reactions of a minority. If you can't provide links to comments made by users showing those double standards, then it's all just wind blown to stir shit.

no offense but if you need proof of that then you have been living under a rock and btw it's not a generalization, the question is for everybody. You don't have to be part of a certain group to say what you think about their opinions

Pikmin has more depth than battlefield, but battlefield is for "hardcore gamers" and pikmin is a "kiddy franchise". why? because of the colors and cartoony characters. So far I can say the same about splatoon vs the order.

And who here on VGC are you referring to with that thread and those comments? Because as far as I can tell, you're just making baseless accusations so far.

"baseless accusations" I think that I won't make another thread like this on this site because there are too many users that take things personally or are easily offended. My thread is about a famous way of thinking, not about someone nor specifically about vgcharz users. I guess that my thread is to vague because I was not expecting a misunderstanding.

We see quite a bit of such threads on VGC, calling out a hypothetical group on double standards, yet people can hardly ever point to an example where the double standard applies.

Some people complain about the family friendly image of Nintendo. That much is true. Now how do you conclude that those complaining about that image don't also complain about or dismiss similar games on their favoured console?

Heck, I remember quite a bit of Nintendo fans dismissing Wind Waker because it went for a cartoon look over a more realistic approach.

Do those people complain about Mario games looking cartoony? I highly doubt that. Because that's what they expect from a Mario game. But, at the time, they did not expect it from a Zelda game.

It's colorful and it's for a  Nintendo console= a game just for kids

It's colorful and it's for a Sony or MS console = a breath of fresh air

the question is, why?

Is the answer: dumbest question in the history of gaming?

No one has ever made either of those statements with any degree of seriousness.

Its nothing knew. We have been seeing the double standard for a long time.

In truth, those are the people misding out. The simplicity and sheer fun of Nintendo games is a lump of fresh air, especially when all we get for the most part nowadays are guns, realism and violence. Gaming would become really dull without Nintendo.

The topic title isnt in question, the content of the post is.

The first two lines setup and define a generalization based on userbase alone with no other defining factors beyond console platforms.
As such, the statement is a generalization and "im asking everyone/anyone" doesnt change this.

Unfortunately it isn't a generalization that holds true because use of color isn't a deciding factor behind a game being considered "for kids" or not, saying it is, as your OP seemingly does, is a second generalization, too.

There have been many mature games that have been buristing with color, just as there have been many games for kids with limited or toned back palletes.

and where are you getting this from?

having played Mario Kart Wii and Party party on the wii it was obvious it was designed with kids in mind, the animations were cheesy and annoying, exactly what a kid would like, the sounds and voices the characters made were also, cheesy and annoying. and the overall look and theme of the games were something that was made for kids to enjoy.

now, does that mean that adults cant enjoy it? certainly not, MK had solid gameplay and to put it simply, it was fun. (cant say the same thing about Mario party). it was a good game. and lets take LBP into consideration now, its a game for kids as well, i dont see anybody saying other wise, but its also a game adults enjoy because its fun and awesome. there are stuff that both adults and kids enjoy, but nintendo games in general are aimed at kids, for fucks sake look at their ads.

Mario Kart 8

Mario 3D world

Mario Party 10

WiiU Ad

WiiU/Mario kart Ad

and there are more. im just dying of bordom looking at them. so go ahead, tell me, nintendo doesnt make games for kids.. huh?

Mario Party 10

Kid on the left shouting "this is intense!" whilst casually flipping the wiimote upwards every few seconds left me with a smirk, i admit.
