eh, Anime is way too niche. |
Better than a live action series that can ruin the enitre franchise! Heck, this alone might decide whether or not future Zelda games will have voices!

You mean it's not more Pikmin short films? |
I really hope not.
I mean, i haven't watched a single one, so they could be funny, but i hope it's something like a full length... something. Or at least something for Nintendo's more known characters.
Can you imagine a Metroid animation movie? O_O

I'm happy with this to be honest, the Zelda name deserves better than Netflix. It doesn't need another TV series, or a movie or whatever.
In fact, the only Nintendo movie I'd like to see would be one led by Disney. Their marketing with Nintendo's characters would be amazing, and that, unlike Netflix, would open Nintendo's franchises to a whole new audience that's currently growing up without them.
I think Zelda would work better as a movie franchise, perhaps that was what Nintendo was trying to do here, leverage a TV deal with Netflix to get someone to bite on using it as a movie IP.
The thing that happened though is the Netflix talks got leaked.
Though I don't doubt Nintendo had discussions with Netflix, if they didn't Netflix would've just flat out denied the story, I think the thing was Nintendo was negotiating with different vendors for a Zelda TV or movie deal and Netflix was one of vendors Nintendo approached (or were approached by). But they may be looking at other options too, like a movie series.
The budget you'd have to have for a Zelda TV series would have to be close to Game of Thrones too, maybe if moreso to be honest ... Zelda is more fantastical whereas GoT obviously draws more heavily on European mideval history. Was Netflix willing to spend that?
