I just want to know what the secret to the story is. I have several theories. Instead of trying to down the game, would you like to discuss possible plots?

I like what I've seen so far. Then again I really enjoyed "playing" Gone Home and the Stanley Parable as well. You might be right when saying these kinds of stories wouln't be good as good in plain text. But that doesn't mean the game can't make up for it through its visuals, music, etc. It's the entire experience that makes these games stick out. Not just the (maybe mediocre) story.

Same, i'm totally down for this |
Hold up guys, I'm coming too!

Looks good to me and something my wife can enjoy as well. She prefers games like this over more hardcore experiences. It looks a lot of fun to watch as well. I'm sure my wife will appreciate being able to share the experience with me by helping out even without actually playing it herself.
so its a walking simulator where you walk around finding the story?
outside of The Stanley Parable i never really saw the appeal of this genre i just thought Gone Home was just meh though i didn't feel like i waste those 2 to 4 hours (until i found out where the last note was cause i'm pretty sure finding that note alone was most of my play time) and haven't played since which was like a year ago. Also i haven't heard good things about the teams last game Dear Esther. so yeah i don't think this game will be for me since i tend to play games for their gameplay first and foremost not really stories unless if its a sequel to a game i really loved like Mass Effect.
Watched that entire video to get an idea of that game. It looks boring to no end. There's nothing to press me forward to experience the story from phones and glowing lights. I like some kind of alternating pace in a game and not just dead slow. Here's a hole in their plot. During the rapture, sinners and non believers would left be on earth. All kinds of craziness would be happening.

The trailer from the IGN video was very interesting, but it didn't really add to the plot. What we do know is that the electronic devices seem to effected by something or someone. Going back to the first trailer, you can tell that there is some sort of machine that is responsible for resetting something - perhaps the entire day.
This reminds me of an Anime called Interlude. Anyway, there are several references to loops in the trailer and even the gameart logo is an image of a couple holding hands against the symbol of infinity in the background. I think this is a situation where a town was recreated form people's memories as a dwelling in a post apocalyptic world.
I think that the survivors are hooked into a shared fake world, a la the matrix and the good memories of the last day before the apocalyptic occurance, are played back over and over. I think something goes wrong and the fake world starts to break down. If they want to be cleaver, they can explain the disapperences of people in the shared dream as a result of the people dying of old age, having played out their entire lives in a fantasy.

Interesting speculation! I haven't seen much of the footage but I have seen enough to be intrigued. I really like mystery games
