Maybe. I think e3 2016 will mainly be about the handheld nx with some wiiu games and e3 2017 will announce its successor

NX is a handheld? (I agree with you) released early 2017 and Wii U successor announced  E3 2017,release 2018

Well they didn't say console or handheld specifically but for some reason, people seem to think its a console automatically for some reason even though the whole conference was about mobile gaming. I think people just jump to conclusions too easily without actually realizing all the factors so I think its a handheld

I would bet on E3 2016 being the last WiiU-focused E3 for Ninty!

Yes.

They likely are internally starting to transition all their big teams to NX projects right now. Game development doesn't just happen in 5 months.

For a hardware launch you need to start developing software about 2 years in advance of the launch. 18 months is a normal game development cycle, though many of Nintendo's cycles go even longer than that. Factor in an additional 6-7 months for developers to get the hang of the new hardware and properly plan for utilizing the new hardware, development would need to be starting about now even for a mid/fall 2017 launch.

That's because they believe that Nintendo's next machine will be the hybrid console half handheld/half home console.

Please excuse my bad English.

I doubt it.
NX or whatever will probably launch in 2017 at the earliest.

So what? Wii U launched in November 2013... Would you say that Nintendo's E3 presentation in 2011 (18 months before WiiU-launch) was still Wii-focused?

I think yes, zelda will also be crossgen probably which would be a good launch title

I think so. I really don't see Nintendo coming up with much of a lineup for Wii U after 2015. 2016 will be their "limp to a new console" year, like 2001, 2006, and 2012.

More to the point, it's not worth it for Nintendo to put good money after bad. 4 years will be a fine timeline for a console that sold as poorly as the Wii U. 4 years were all Xbox got, after all, and few people cried foul.

change 2016 for 2017 and you're right.

What are they going to put out next year, then?

I mean, they don't have much big left that they could put on Wii U. Can't carry a holiday season with a Metroid game, much as we might want to see one. Animal Crossing could well be saved for mobile now, or something. Really, what else are they going to put there?

Then the secondary question of what, at all, they're doing to keep 3DS alive. Monster Hunter is consuming my time now, but they don't even have enough to get it through *this* holiday season, let alone another.

NX will solve for both, mind.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well then they should stop jumping to nonsense conclusions

I don't understand, I really don't. Did people think Nintendo wasn't developing another gaming system until they said so? And when they teased, they think it's almost ready for release!? Iwata just said a codename, and a incomplete one at that. I will never be convinced on the "Fusion" argument, so I believe NX is the next handheld. And no, E3 2016 will be Wii U's last E3.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
