Forums - Nintendo - Will 2015 E3 be the last Wii U-focused E3 for Nintendo?

Given that they have announced the NX to enforce that they would "remain in the game SYSTEM business", who else sees 2015 E3 as the last one for Ninendo where it is primarily focused on the Wii U? Many cannot see Nintendo sticking with the Wii U exclusively until 2018 so a 2017 release date for the follow up console seems very likely meaning a 2016 reveal(most likely). Nintendo are notorious for cutting support for consoles that under-achieve sales-wise, I noticed that with the n64 and the GCN and was disappointed that the focus had shifted and the software began to dry up.

Well, I predict that by E3 2016, NX will only be in the prototype stage, so I think they'll still have a lot to talk about/announce for the Wii U. Think of it like E3 2011 was: Nintendo revealed the Wii U, but they still spent a lot of time on Wii games (Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Mario Party 9, Skyward Sword, etc).

I doubt it.
NX or whatever will probably launch in 2017 at the earliest.

No, wii u should still get many games shown at E3 2016.

also, "Given that they have announced the NX", they haven't announced the NX, they said they will announce it next year.

The console has been 'announced' according to Iwata, just not fully revealed but it is confirmed.

Depends on WHAT NX is; if it's a home console, or a fusion device, or something that is designed to occupy that console 'space', then 2015 will definitely be the last Wii U focussed year (2016 may have 1 or 2 swan song games for it).

If NX isn't replacing Wii U (it may not do...), say if it's a handheld, or a tablet, or even a phone. Then Wii U support will continue until it's obsolete.

That said; I wouldn't be that surprised if NX was the mystical fusion device, and was released late 2016 (reveal press conference early 2016, blowout E3, launches November - especially if handheld comes first, then the hub a couple of months' later)

-waits to laugh when NX is a handheld and not a console-

They didn't announce a console more than when they say they are always developing the next consoles.

They teased an announcement for next year.
