If he falls, he will probably fall in a place where you won't be able to reach his body. If that happens, then go back to the lamp, sleep, and then return to the tower, the item he drops, which is useful, will be there for sure. They thought of this scenario

Too late, I rushed at him at full speed and axed him off the building. I think you get this senerio he doesn't see you coming at him. Like if you open up the secret passages and then die, but come back through them, and he hasn't see you yet. Meaning, that he isn't prepared for you and stands near the edge suprised someone has come up the ladder.

I don't care.  From what I can tell, theres next to no story, and I hated that guy and wanted him dead.  Nay, NEEDED him dead after all the grief he gave me. 

Also killed his little compatriot at the base of the tower due to a fluke. (he followed me to the church but wouldn't enter, would just stay at the entrance there, and wouldn't even attack me when I dove out to attack him.  Sure, I'll take it!)
