Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ninty Mobile plans, stock up by 55% at close after 2 days.

Tagged games:

I wonder what will happen if their plans flop like the wiiu and the stock crash hard, add the added costs of mobile development and they may be in quite a bit of trouble.

Imo i don't see them being a success on mobile, so this all is serious stuff.

Why I think its a bad move:

1) They will have to sell their games for a lower price if they want people to buy it

2) Despite the price, most players will still be running pirated copies... Something which they cant sue someone for (like they could the R4 people if it were on their own handheld)

3) If those games dont turn out good its obviously a problem. If they do turn out good, its an even bigger problem for their handheld console, and possibly even their home console considering nintendo games are "not about graphics"... people would just get the cheaper/pirated phone versions instead.

edit: and I think nintendo stock will drop below to what it was before this announcement once they release the first few games on mobile.

U seem to be under the impression that their mobile games will be ports of their handheld/consoles games, that's not the case, they will be games built from the ground up for mobile.

How many people seriously pirate iOS/Android games? Maybe some tech nerds, but most purchases are legitimately, besides it's kinda stupid to pirate something that costs 99 cents or is free to play.

IMO, the reverse of what you predict will happen. Their stock will go even higher when their first games come up and have several million users in a week.

EA's Sim City had something like 22 million users after one month on iOS/Android.

70%? O_o

Android piracy is really rampant actually.  Not so much on iOS.

But they can sue people for that if they catch them.  It's called copyright infringement minimum $700 fine plus an extra fine for every copyrighted work infringed.  It can go much higher.

Queit the opposite actually, hence point number 3.... if they are bad, its bad for nintendo, if they are good, its still bad for nintendo.

U said cheaper version, which made me think u were implying they would be ports of existing games.

I'm pretty sure that the handheld will have access to the mobile games as well as their own games. It will be like the handheld gets 2 systems worth of games. I'm thinking that the handheld gamers will end up with a much better deal than mobile gamers.

Nintendo rehashes their games all the time. One is as good as the other. If you've played one, you've played them all.

Yep if u played Super Mario Bros, no need to play New Super Mario Bros U

If u played The Legend of Zelda than why would u buy A Link Between Worlds?

Mario Kart 8 wasn't a system seller because people are too busy playing Super Mario Kart on emulators
