Well its a mobile oriented conference... I doubt its a new console specially in this context

Iwata said to prove they are committed to dedicated video game systems, they have a new console named codename nx in the works.

Did he actually say console cause I didn't hear console... Handheld would make sense cause a lot of people are probably more afraid of their handheld devision

I think he used "system", could be handheld or home console. Regardless, they are not abandoning the current model, but merely adding another pillar. Many here are panicking and not thinking clearly. Nintendo is merely making shitty Pokemon shuffle type games on mobile games to advertise their brand. Unless they start porting premium games to mobile, I'd suggest a "wait and see" approach.

I don't play touch screen games. Not for me. Hopefully it makes them shit loads of cash though and they invest it directly into games for their dedicated devices.

Welp, I can't wait for all the Nintendo doomed threads. Sighh, time to see what this is all about in the up coming months. 2016 will be a fun year, I can tell already...

The problem of that is the investors. If the games fail, they will blame the company and Nintendo will lose money. If the games are very profitable, the investors will demand more effords for the mobile area, taking resources away for dedicated consoles. It's a  loose-loose situation. The only thing we can hope is that Nintendo makes money from this, but less profits that  the dedicated machines, so the investors are convinced once and for all that mobile is not the best way to go.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Unfortunately I think Nintendo on iOS/Android is going to be a huge slam dunk.

Mario Kart iOS? Animal Crossing iOS?

C'mon these will sell like crazy even if the games are sh*t (because most smartphone games are sh*t).

And then stockholders will want Nintendo to focus more and more on this area.

Lots going on in this meeting.

Or what if they are making a Nintendo phone and its for that phone. Its very late entry in the market. But there is a possibility.

Another thing I just realized, does this now mean Amiibo could be used with iPhone/Samsung Galaxy (etc.)?

Those phones all have an NFC reader.

Nintendo will probably now sell a ton more of those because the iPhone/iPad/Galaxy userbases are so large.

Good. Now bring classic Nintendo games to Google Play Store, iOS, and Amazon App store please.

SMB
