Also shows how depressingly similar games are ... virtually every game the OP listed is basically a shooter of some type at its core outside of GoW.

This^

GoW is still kind of similar too in that it thrives on its over-the-top action and thrills. Outside of Nintendo, Atlus and some SE offerings there's very little to hope for for AAA colorful, creative and quality games not based on pure thrills.
