Forums - Gaming - Does Anyone Feel as if Last Generation Graphics Look Blurry And Horrible Now?

BFHL will likely be far from the last game with a console port that prioritizes FPS over native render resolution.

It's funny that there is the line of thinking that believes as developers become more adept at optimization on the consoles, resolutions will be consistent at 1920x1080 while simultaneously, others believe as game engines become more demanding (Frostbite 3) console ports will run at 900 and 720p.

Might be a little of column A and a little of column B.

TBH i haven't noticed but I never stop to admire the gfx of a game, just play.

They definitely do look worse, as they should. But blurry and horrible wouldn't do 7th gen justice. Considering they have been on the market for 8 years they're holding up extremely well.

Add me on Xbox: DWTKarma

I just hate it when people assume a console ages so quickly.

Console gamer before the ps4's release: why are this PC master race pals so annoying with that 1080p shit, it isn't that great.

Console gamer after the ps4's release: doesn't matter how fun this game is, it runs sub 1080p so it is shit ; ) and blurry.

Uhhhh duh?! Yeah they look god awful.

A couple games here and there look a bit muddy, most first or second generation software releases, but for the most part 7th gen games still hold up, and many still visually impress considering the hardware they're running on is now approaching a decade old, which is ancient in terms of videogame & computer hardware.

Contrast that with the absolutely fugly looking games of the 6th gen... most PS2 games for example look like a blurry, pixelated mess. Some GC and Xbox games still hold up like REmake, RE4, F-Zero GX, Ninja Gaiden Black, Riddick, Halo 2 etc., but for the most part comparing 6th and 7th gen games is like night and day, while comparing 7th to 8th gen is like comparing early Genesis / TG-16 games to later SNES / NEO GEO games.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Yep. Yesterday I saw some pics of God of War III and it shocked me! When it first came out I thought it had the best graphics ever, but now it looks so blurry and cheap.

It's amazing how our perception changes over time.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

This is pretty much true, for me I really loved how graphically intense Supreme Commander and it's expansion Forged Alliance looked, just two nights ago I played a few skirmishes with a friend while we commented about how the games graphics were pretty blurry and didn't age too well, the game was still sharp with good AA but the textures on the units are muddy as you get close up and the battleground texture is blurry as hell, even with some mods it still doesn't change the fact the game originally came out in 2007.

These days I kinda expect most games going for realism to really push the envelope or go home, either that or create a style of your own for your game that hardly ages or at the very least ages very slowly (like maybe 2 decades).

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Still enjoyed Metroid Prime 2 more on a visual level than a lot of current-gen games.

So no.
