This is pretty much true, for me I really loved how graphically intense Supreme Commander and it's expansion Forged Alliance looked, just two nights ago I played a few skirmishes with a friend while we commented about how the games graphics were pretty blurry and didn't age too well, the game was still sharp with good AA but the textures on the units are muddy as you get close up and the battleground texture is blurry as hell, even with some mods it still doesn't change the fact the game originally came out in 2007.
These days I kinda expect most games going for realism to really push the envelope or go home, either that or create a style of your own for your game that hardly ages or at the very least ages very slowly (like maybe 2 decades).
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
