This doesn't mean that it is the better game.

Without that game Sonic wouldn't even exist.

Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis still gives me goose bumps when I play it. So many awesome memories playing that game.

Without Nintendo Playstation also wouldn't exist. And Playstation is the best place to play for the most gamer.

And the PC gaming market is bigger in revenue than Playstation. A lot bigger.

Super Mario Bros. influenced a lot more games than any Sonic game ever has. The game is responsible for saving the console market in the US.

Regardless, you're comparing a game from 1985 to a game from 1992. If you want to compare the first Sonic game to a Mario game then you should pick Super Mario World. Still regarded by many as the pinnacle of Mario platformers.

Mario, because he's never changed. He's the same badass plumber with a mustache and overalls that he's been for 30 years. He refuses to compromise.

Sonic used to be awesome. Then, he had an identity crisis, painted his arms blue and started wearing a neckerchief. He doesn't even know who he is any more.

He started out as a carpenter. :p

I'm surprised so many people say Sonic yet everyone complains whenever a new Sonic game is made.

Because Sonic games have been trash for well over a decade. He has never even had a good 3D game. Unless Sonic Racing counts.
