Sonic or Mario?

Sonic had so much potential. Better gameplay, better levels, better protagonist...
The only problem is that Sega did after the first Sonic games too much wrong. 

Mario's first game is much older lol... It's also much more classic than Sonic's first game. And sold a lot more.

This doesn't mean that it is the better game.
