Forums - Sales Discussion - PS Vita is starting to do good!

You're making a leaping assumption there about European sales, especially since the reason PS TV sales were so high in USA is because of the giveaway in Bestbuy (and massive discounts on Amazon).

That said, PSV still had a more decent month than I was expecting. Maybe this year won't be the final, cratering year I was expecting after all. Even that 30k PSV sold is more promising than last year, when we were seeing like 5k for the whole month occasionally (though I suppose there's still chance for that to happen).

Same happened at amazon.de, PS Vita got a big discount and was number 1 at bestsellers.

Sony should support it a lot more outside of Japan. Anyhow, we'll need to watch PSV on a longer term to tell whether the improvement is temporary or stable.

no... it isn't. It isn't. It's bad for a gaming console let alone a handheld.

So it is bad for a handheld to sell in USA 100k in 2 months?
In the worst selling country for it and without any new game releases in these 2 months.

Yes, this is extremely bad for any console or handheld in the US. Anything below 100k / month in the US is basically a dead console. I don't know why people say 60-90k units are "good sales" this generation. The Gamecube regularly did over 100k per month in the US and was considered a flop. Same goes for the Wii U, by the way - neither PS Vita nor Wii U sales can be considered "good" under any circumstances. The Vita has healthy sales in Japan at least but that's about it.

Not trying to bash the Vita here. But both Nintendo and Sony fans seem to bend the meaning of "good sales" a lot this generation (and I own both a Vita and a Wii U by the way).

Superman does good. The Vita does well... Actually the Vita does poorly, but my grammar point still stands.

You can't even play uncharted and gravity rush, that's like not being able to play mario and zelda.  The new 3ds can play all 3DS games, it's not even close.

But 3DS also can't play all N3DS games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.
And 2DS is not able to make the games 3D.
But VGChartz is counting all 3 together!

XC is the only game announced for new3DS, they launched it without any games.  What kind of hardware has no games for 2 months and 1 game announced yet sells millions.  That's because it's a 3DS, that's why they are counted together.

The people that actually want to play vita buy the vita because it plays all the games unlike vita tv.

Well, my DS Lite also doesn't play all DS games (it can't play DSi-games) and my 3DS doesn't play all 3DS-games (it can't play n3DS-games).

Why is it okay to summarize the different DS-models and 3DS-models but it ain't okay to summarize all Vita-models that can play most Vita-games?

really?  So you think people bought the DSi for 5 budget indie games or because it is a DS?

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I never said that. Maybe some uninformed people or some optimists which hoped for more and better DSi-exclusives.

That's always a good sign. I know that thinking about West-oriented exclusives for Vita is naive no matter what at this point, but maybe improved sales could influence the number of ports/remakes of Western games that we're getting. I love my Vita and play it all the time, a couple of wRPGs would turn it into the perfect console for me. Sony should try to push for some more remakes and ports of PS2 and older PC games.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

The Vita is on lie support with no chance of improvement Doctor!

I might pick one up one day. The PSP was one hell of a device! Crisis Core, Chains of Olympus... Fond teenage memories.

PS Vita did around 60k in February 2015 in USA alone (NPD sales), though this is the weakest market for PS VIta. (VGChartz has PS Vita at 20k, undertracked by 40k units). Europe numbers should also be around 60-70k (VGChartz has PS Vita at 18k units, undertracked by at least 42k). PS Vita should be around 120k alone in the west, +80k in Japan and +40k in rest of the world. PS Vita should have sold around 240k Global in one month (!!!). This is very good for a handheld imo!!!

What do you think?

Is that so? Do you have the numbers it did at last years months?

Would so freaking love to see the Vita being the Phoenix of the Handhelds
