How is this a bad thing? Didn't anyone here play the FF12 demo? Just like this it was based in an area that though in the final game didn't have any connections with the final game story wise.

Nope there isn't. Cidney isn't an important part of the story and is merely an important part of its gameplay(probably some kind of weapon/accessory/airship/vehicle repair/upgrade/shop person in the game).
