The Nintendo PR sates the 3DS was "the top-selling hardware platform in the United States in February". So Sony must mean PS4 was the top console.

Edit: Ninja'd. Multiple times I'm guessing, that's what I get for going off discussion from a few pages back.

I'm guessing that Nintendo took the 3DS family as a whole and Sony didn't.

Correct I'd say. Now somone do some friggin' digging and find out what 3DSXL Aug 2012 * 1.3 =?? and we will have the minimum number for PS4 NPD!!! Since we know N3DS contributed the largest share of 3DS sales for the month, and PS4 claimed "top hardware", it means 3DS>PS4>N3DS.

plskthks.

Lol, I think you meant PS4>N3DS>3DS.  Or 3DS Family>PS4>N3DS.

Edit:  Also, didn't Nintendo release bar graphs to illustrate the difference in sales?  Where are they?  And did they have actual sales numbers on them?

If Nintendo said Wii U up by +20% YoY, Wii U is at 95,000 little or less this NPD.
If it said month of month, Wii U is at 100,000.

Their PR is worded "So far in 2015, sales of Wii U hardware have increased by more than 20 percent over sales in the same period in 2014."  So the 95k number should be the correct one.

February is always a fucking good month for the sales by 2011.
Don't expect this massive number's for March at least, the console will be up in the intere Month, but not Week by week (February have 4 week versus 5 week of March).

What makes you say that?

Their relative positions on NPD and VGC.

The Order is ahead of both on VGC (NBA not even on the list), but they are both several spots ahead on NPD.

Allowing for a chance that the Order is spot on, those other two, and several more, are then severely undertracked.

They are severely undertracked. Look at NPD's 10th placed game (MH4). It's sales are 290K phys+digital. I am going to assume digital sales are not large on 3DS (could be wrong). VGC has the 10th placed game at a mere 122K. VGC has done a lot of game undertracking this month, and it means they are not too far off with The Order, because the Order Phys+digital >290K and the whole top 10 is somewhere in between 290K and 515K. The Order could easily be 280K phys + 20K digital for 9th place. And you can hardfly complain that VGC has badly overtracked The Order. So it's time to let VGC's numbers for the Order take a rest, they are within margin for error, so they are fine.

N3DS is new a console, which is why it can play games that the 3DS cannot.

By this definition DSi is a seperate handheld from the DS.

New 3DS is the same thing as 3DSi ... they just gave it a different name. DSi had an overclocked CPU and more RAM added as well and did have some DSi only software, and Nintendo was planning on releasing more DSi only software but that plan likely went down the tubes to focus on the 3DS instead.

Nintendo also doesn't dilineate between Game Boy and Game Boy Color either.

Correct. DSi was a separate handheld.

Monster Hunter numbers are pretty good ... 3DS at least has some diversity and marketing success with other types of games other than the standard Nintendo core IP.

Fusion/unified platform probably can't come soon enough for Nintendo, hopefully for them it'll mean more diversity in software sales.

It would've been interesting to see how much better games like Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors might've sold if they had access to all the 3DS owners ... of course it's not possible to port those games to 3DS ... but with Fusion that problem will go out the window.

So, nothing to do with actual numbers but position in the chart?

Look, VGC says that The Order did 290K, Dying Light 155K (across three platforms) and NBA less than 100K. But NPD places both ahead... So DL is (allowing for the Order number to be correct) undertracked by 100%, and NBA by 200%, CoD undertracked as well etc.
