Forums - Gaming - PS4 a "big evolution in game design, almost like 2D to 3D shift".

I read this as "PS3 was a pain in the ass to deal with, we didn't enjoy making games on it, etc. Now PS4 (and, ostensibly XB1) are fun to dev for, so it feels like they jumped straight from PS2 to PS4 in terms of power." Basically backhanding the PS3 while giving the PS4 a high five.

Did he miss the last gen or something? The biggest difference from a gen has to be the hd jump. From a programming point of view,

old skool

I don't think anything will ever be like the switch from 2D to 3D.

VR! When you try it, you will understand.

I know everyone is laughing, but in the slim chance he's designing a game with Morpheous in mind, I think his comment is reasonable.

VR? How is VR going to revolutionize every aspect of game design?

When you interact with VR using motion based technology like move, it really feels like a new and different experience.

I'm looking forward to expriencing the Portal demo soon! VR feels fresh and new, and I love it.

I can say that 3D audio feels like that, but more like the switch from blakc and white to color.

When that becomes available to the mainstream, people are going to be amazed at what we've been missing.

3D audio? What it is exactly? Something like surround sound?

It's hard to describe without actually experiencing, but, suffice to say, surround sound and other directional sound mechanisms lack true audio depth. This results from source recording and processing; when properly reported and processed, depth is retored to the audio to make it 3D.

Currently, it doesn't exist in any form on the market.

lol, suuuure...
