Forums - Microsoft - Ori and the Blind Forest Reviews

It was on my radar. Now I know what I'll be playing on Steam tomorrow!

Out tomorrow on Steam, yet no price available yet. Looks lovely.

As i said in XBE, Ori isnt any lesser than a AAA game to me. It has the quality, its 10-15 hours long on average, its absolutely beautiful, its difficult, and it has been in development for 4 years. So just as i would consider Rayman and Mario AAA games, i would Ori as well. It feels like ive waited forever to play Ori since its first reveal at E3, but cant wait to play it tomorrow for what looks like the best platformer ive seen since Rayman Legends.

Rayman Legends was pretty bad though.
This looks cooler from the trailers, I'd buy it if it was on Wii U.

Such a shame DKC: TF didn't receive reviews like this though.

2D Mario games suck even harder btw. They don't have high production values.

I havent finished Rayman Legends yet but loved Origins.  Like DKC a lot but it was kind of short it felt.  Hate mario though.  Waaaaay to easy.  No offense to mario fans but i prefer a challenge.

So for now id rank it Rayman > DKC > Mario.  Ill wait until i play Ori before ranking it

Yes. Never before because they never were big on 360. Right? I don't know what this has to do with the thread in any way, to be honest.

The Xbox empire thread was full with comments with people saying they not care indies though.

Full of comments dismissing indies? You go there often, you should know that Arcade games (small downloadable games) are probably the most revered games in the Xbox empire. Battleblock Theater, Shadow Complex, Fuzion Frenzy, Geometry Wars, State of Decay, Max: TCB, etc... are some of the thread's favorite.

There are handful of people that don't like generic indie games, like the latest pixelated trends. However, the latest ID@Xbox games reveals have been received with great enthusiasm.

And just to let you know, indies were a thing on Xbox since 2004 on original Xbox. When Popcap was still independent.

Yes, I read for sure 90% of the comments in the Xbox empire thread from the start like many others in that thread it is the first one I open going on vgchartz.

I have been discussing in the majority of the subjects in the thread like 'Is phil spencer or great or does he just talk talk talk', 'The Japanese support investments are weak',  'the line up for the first 6-9 months is weak this year' and especially 'the amount of indies is low compared to the X360 is low' is one I joined a lot and I was mostly alone who enjoyed indies most just reacted in the line of 'I not care about indies'. So yeah the vibe about indies has changed and if ori is one that brings love for indies back into the xbox empire thread I am happy about it.

What is bad about it? Feel like it is very entertaining and the challenges + music levels are amazing.

Wow, that's great news! I was never completely sold on this game, but I have to say these glowing reviews have renewed my interest.

I will definitely give it a try when it arrives on 360 later this year.
