That would look ridiculous on an HD TV. Let's say you have a 50 inch television (Wii U pad is bottom screen) and you're playing a DS game. That would be 5.82 PPI for a top screen game. The text would be unreadable at such a horrendously low IQ. 

For a comparison. 

I could literally go to my television screen and trace out and color in the pixels, in such a scenario (33 pixels per square-inch.) I roughly drew a pic of what the size of the pixels would be like. 

 

It's Nintendo, you never know with them >.<

Although, IIRC, the Dr. Kawashima (or whatever) DS ports on the WiiU were only showcased on the gamepad. They'd look half decent on that.

Yeah, I'm using other sites from now on. Didn't want to reupload and repost all the pics though, so I caved in and paid the $3. And thanks! :)

I think Shantae is just as nice looking as Zero Mission. Both are pretty games. Technically, Contra 4 is the most impressive of the bunch though. A lot going on in that game.

Metroid is mostly underground and in caves while Shantae is outdoors, so kind of hard to compare, but Metroid is on the GBA and Shantae on the DS. You'd expect it to look a lot better on the next system.

Sure, my point was that the DS has some pretty nice 2D games as well. If I wanted to make a comparison to the GBA I would've posted Shantae screens from the GBA.
