Italians and Brazilians are bred with soccer skills ( just kidding).

you mean the Italians are bred with the ability to diver, bribe, fake injuries, play dirty, and fix games? Sorry I just get pissed when people sayItaly is a skilled as Brazil. They play very boaring defenseive football, and score the most flimy, and weak goals ever. No watch Brazil play, and tehy play as a team mixed in with some brilliant Individual talent.

Maybe you're right, although watching Roberto Baggio play was very entertaining. And Italy's unrivaled in defense payers...

Gues you guys haven't followed the UEFA cup a lot?

The Dutch stomped the Italians 3-0 first match, they then tied against Romania 1-1. They will have to play France next tuesday and have to win it to even have a shot at surviving the group matches. They also have to hope that the Dutch decide to beat Romania. (We are already through ánd group winners)

Well i think the reason soccer isn't that popular in the US is because its not a traditional american sport and as such it'll take a while for it catch on.

Here in Australia soccer used to be considered extremly boring -- untill Australia made the soccer world cup and got moved to the asian competion (previosuly aussie soccer teams played island nations and won like 15 nil... or we played new zealand ... )

The big thing i want to know is why isn't cricket popular in the US. I mean baseball is like a failed attempt to copy cricket... and with the rise of Twenty20 games which only take a few hours, and are pure action theirs no reason for the ICC not to attempt to push the sport in the US... i for one would love to see a yearly Australia-USA one day or test series!

Ohh and for any americans in the thread do americans only watch american football ? What about Rugby Union or Rugby League ?? Union not a bad game though i don't follow it much and league is really an excellent game especially when your watching inform players, like in Australia's State of Origin comp. ( 3 game series between QLD and NSW in the middle of the rugby season )

The Americans would be the best like they are at every other sport. But Americans are not interested in soccer.

because american men have horrible legs and dont like to show them.

Because just like golf it's extremely boring to watch. Americans like watching games with fast paced action like football and basketball.

joke post?

In my opinion, americans enjoy sissy sports that are afraid of contact:

Basketball - I liked playing basket at physical education back in highschool, but it's a bit boring to watch. It's not a very dynamic sport, it's tactically limited and not very fast with serious symptoms of stopclock-o-litis. No contact whatsoever.

American football -  The players are afraid of getting sued so they wear big equipment that will save their pocket money, and are so out-of-shape that need to stop the clock everytime something happens(joke). Serious now, Rugby is simply faster and has alot of real contact, how can american football beat that?

Baseball - No contact whatsoever and definitely slow paced. But to be honest it's the main american sport that I respect the most.

Ice Hockey - I like this one, but it's not as fast as rink hockey and there's no real contact.

Please don't talk about crap you know nothing about.  I have more scars on my body from basketball and football than anything else in my life. Try taking a charge on hardwood (that means having someone run into you, usually full speed, and ramming you to the ground), much less cement.  There's so much contact going on in basketball it's ridiculous, especially the moment you go inside the paint (that means when you get close to the basket ;)).  Calling any sport you have limited experience with tactically limited is retarded.  There's so much going on in basketball, just like in every other sport.  I'm not going to bother giving you an example because I don't feel like wasting three minutes typing something you won't understand.

I got the out-of-shape thing was a joke, and it better be, because those are some of the best athletes in a nation of 300 million.

Real contact?

Yeah, do the pads make sense now?  If you received one of those hits without pads, you'd either be knocked out, screwed up for life, or dead.  I'm so sick and tired of people so full of themselves and sports they're familiar with that thing anything foreign is automatically stupid.  I love my American sports, but that doesn't mean I think any less of soccer, rugby, or the like.

OT: It's like Montana said, it's culture and history.  It's just the way things progressed in America.  Soccer never became as popular as other sports.  That said, it is a very popular sport in terms of youth sports.  Oh, and hockey is very popular in North Carolina and has been for a while.  Plus, we just won the Stanely Cup...

@Tarheel.

All I see is people getting knocked over. That happened to me since the fuckin playground. It still happens to me when I playa round with mates doing rugby or "international football". I also raise you're video with mine:

This was the best I could find. And I've seen this happen a lot, including once where a guy's leg snaps all the way back from is knee. The term "shouldn't bend that way" was easily appliable.

And before you respond with pussy this/that, I do neither sport "fulltime", merely for fun. I'm a boxer.

Lol dont even mention Australia and USA in a cricket match. If USA cant beat Canada they would get destroyed by Australia. Cricket in North America is pointless anyways as the team is made up of immigrants. For example, Canadas team has an Indian wicketkeeper, 2 West Indian fast bowlers, an Aussie Captain, A Kiwi middle order batsmes, and the rest are from South Asia.

Add in a few people of African disent and your describing Canadas population. I might be missing your point but from what ive seen about Canada everythungs like that because of high immigration rates. Its always going tobe the case now so you shouldnt be suprised that the Canadian cricket team is made up of immigrants. Most of Canadas population are immigrants.

Also i agree with you when i watched Canadas cricket team i thought they were pakistan.
