Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's outdated online features and what needs to be done

1. Achievements(I don't care for them too much, but they are nice)
2. Region select for online play(I'm tired of getting laggy matches with Japanese players)
3. Less lag overall(MK8 seems okay for the most part, but the lag in Smash is really bad sometimes)

If Nintendo had the online structure of the PS3/4, 360/XBO, they would charge for it, anyone who thinks they wouldn't is in for some major disappointment.

I dunno, Steam is equal is equal to PlayStation and Xbox in online, and they don't charge for it.

I'm surprised that like two of us actually understand what this thread is (based on who has commented).

Has Rol read this yet?

If it is meant to be a joke thread it failed, because the points are all spot on.

No they aren't

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

This!

I think point 1 and 2 are valid points to be made and discussed. Some of Nintendo's games would benefit from an online mode, especially if you could CHOOSE who to play with, and of course talking with them while playing would be all kinds of fun. Now, this isn't necessery for ALL Nintendo's games - far from it - but some would benefit from it. NSMBU comes to mind...

Achievments... I don't care about them, but a great deal of people DO, so if Nintendo wanna stay competative, they should consider implementing them, no matter if their current substitute is better.

Paid online really sucks and I oppose it with my whole being!! This is where I really start to question if this is a joke thread or not.... But the other points were valid ones, so I don't know =/

Nintendo's way of doing DLC is supperior! DO NOT CHANGE. Another indication that this is a joke thread....

Online platformers are a ridiculous idea, for there is almost no relevant interaction, I wouldn't even bother if there was another player in the stage, except I feel like killing him. Local multiplayer is awesome though, as you can share the joys and woes of the other player. You should try it sometime.

I personally agree on number 2 though. But I'd argue there's a technical problem for nintendo here. There's no way they'd take so long more than the competition when they are actually making better online games like Smash, if they wanted to do it. My bet is on they don't want parents to hear angry children screaming at their own through the TV. And that's all there is to voice chatting on any console, angry children. It's not much of a loss anyway,

All Nintendo have to do is to integrate some sort of report/rating system to stiffle such behavior. Think a bit of LoL; if someone's acting rude or doesn't listen to his/her team mates, you can all report that person. Imagine if you got banned from SSB for a month for trash talking someones mom. In LoL, harasments dropped by 40% when they started using their report system.

Games are already almost 70 USD. Plus internet access is 60/mo. I'm not paying more just to play Mario Kart with people in Brazil.

Voice chat is a non-issue for me because I don't want to listen to a bunch of hateful assholes when I play a videogame. If I want to listen to a bunch of idiots who want to make fun of me, I'll go on reddit, or I'll flame someone (or something) here.

Achievements do nothing for me. There is no point in "earning" them. Oh look, you hit the start button, have an achievement or you beat the tutorial, have an achievement. That is just plain pointless.

Lastly, DLC is fine where it's at. Like I said earlier, a game costs over 60 dollars. I don't want to pay more for content that should've been in the game to begin with.

I agree with everything except 4 and 5. I really don't want those things!

1. I typically don't care about multiplayer in single player games, and care even less about online multiplayer in those games.
2. Sure.
3. I find it funny how the same people who whine about Nintendo using "gimmicks" for new methods of control, are somehow in love with the idea of an actual gimmick like achievements.
4. No, that's complete bullshit.
5. I prefer getting completed games out of the box. Most DLC is complete bullshit. The only times it has really been done right on console is with Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros U. Nintendo already does this better than anyone else.
