Forums - Nintendo - How many copies do you think this year's Wii U games will sell in this year?

I doubt that, especially Zelda since it is most likely going to be released in the Christmas holidays, and just for reference Majora's Mask 3D, which not only is a remake but was not released on any sort of holiday sold 300,000 in its first week, so i think Zelda has a chance to break the 1m mark.

That was only in US. Likely sold around 900k WW. Zelda will surely sell 1m FW. Platina is correct, however. Most games on that list will sell a maximum of 1m this year. I only see the Mario games, Zelda and possibly Xenoblade having a substantial chance of surpassing it.

Wow. Everybody loves them some MM3D. Back on topic, the only thing i can see holding back sales is the fanbase, which is honestly quite a big setback and as a result i can see where you are coming from, but its as big, if not bigger, than Mario Kart 8 in my opinion, and that game sold 1.2 million in its first 4 days (source:http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Mario_Kart ) and at that time the Wii U had an even smaller fanbase, and again was not released in a holiday.

Sorry, what I meant was Zelda will sell 1m FW at least. It definitely has a chance of being substantially higher, given that it's releasing during the holidays on a larger install base than what MK8 did. In the end, though, I can see 4.5m+ LT being in the cards for Zelda U. But I'm not gonna get my hopes up, lol.

Yeah, like in that other thread about Zelda U sales, i'm gonna be optimistic and say it will sell 5m+ lifetime, especially since Wii U titles can be unpredictable :P

End of 2015
Kirby & the Rainbow Curse- 800k
Mario Party 10- 1.2m
Yarn Yoshi- 1m
Splatoon- 1.5m
Star Fox U- 1m
Devil's Third- 450k
Xenoblade Chronicles X- 2m
Zelda U- 2.5m

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

I think you're being pretty optimistic with those numbers. I think Zelda U is gonna be around 2 millions, and the rest I don't think they're gonna sell a million in 2015, But through 2016. Star Fox U has a great chance of selling good, Xenoblade Chronicles X too, depending on the way Nintendo manages it. Splatoon is gonna be lucky if it reaches 500 k LT, Yoshi's is gonna sell really slowly, a la DKC TF, so is Kirby. Devil's third is gona sell less than Bayo 2, depends on the reviews it gets.

i think most of them will do under 1 million and in the 300-500k range. The only title I can see hitting 1 million this year is Zelda.

Yeah, i was probably think of lifetime sales and not 2015 sales :P, but i think you've hit the ballpark range, i think that most of the games are going to hit 1m, except Devil's Third, which, like you said, is probably going to somewhat ditto Bayo 2 due to it being niche compared to what Wii U owners buy.

I'm not that good also at predicting sales, but I think somehow OP manages to be worse than me ;)

Zelda: agree with OP, between 2,5 and 3Mil
XCX: 2Mil+ is waaaay high. Being a niche game I'd say 1Mil would be nice, 1,5mil would be great
Star Fox; honestly I don't have a clue
Splatoon: most people on this thread say 1Mil is too much but I'm with OP na go even further. I think it will be a hit if properly advertised, and since Nintendo apparently is going to push it, I'd go as high as 1,5-2Mil
Devil's Thid: agree with OP, will sell better than mos antecipate, between 500k and 750k

The rest I pretty much agree with, or than have a clue.

Cheers

Those are pretty optimistic numbers for end of 2015!

the sales will be good, i dont think even the smaller nintendo games can sale 1m(1m this year just if they come out before fall)

Captain Toad's done around 0.6 million in a matter of months, and that's a small game, so i don't think its too far-fetched.

its just offline sales. its a small game, it sold better online than others. and every game will sale better offline than the one before because stupid nintendo just has a 8 and 32 gb version...
