Because I don't feel like playing those games. There's nothing compelling in there.

Would you rather Nintendo have Evolve? Oh, I know, what about The Order?

Please.

There are a lot more games than those 2 you could have picked.

Then what? Revelations 2? Dragon Ball? Dead or Alive 5 again?

Nothing has come out that's considerably better than anything Nintendo is putting out, and to try and claim that this list is unimpressive based on personal taste is ridiculous.

I'm definitely more interested in playing The Order - plenty of positive impressions of the game on this site.

Good for you.

That explains everything.

The witcher,  gta heists,  battlefield hardline Bloodborne,  yakuzo, dragon quest heroes,  tropico 5, mortal combat, dead island 2, batman,  Disgaea 5, hotline miami 2, devil may cry, project cars, elder scrolls online,  omega quintlet,  and a boatload of smaller titles.  Yet you picked out the order which is decent and Evolve.

With the unified approach, I believe Nintendo is trying to create an ecosystem where they can be more self-reliant and profitable without the need of the big AAA western titles.

I think they will release low cost hardware (sub-$200) with strong 1st party output along with strong Japanese 3rd party support, strong indie support and child-friendly Western 3rd parties. If they happen to get AAA western support, that's great, but since Nitnendo can't rely on getting it they need to find a way to have healthy sales/profits without them.

Will there not be a backlash from the hardcore fans who want AAA experiences? It does seem like a good idea.  I do get the feeling though that the handheld would do much better than the console.  If they go for a $200 console how powerful will it be?  Equal to the Wii U and ps3?

Maybe, but it's not like Nintendo has ever really relied on AAA western titles, if u want the big western titles then get a Playstation, Xbox or PC just like people have been doing for 20 years now. In terms of specs I think we could see something like this.

Handheld-between Vita and Wii U, able to produce Wii U level visuals/engines/ports but on a smaller screen and lower resolution. Similar to the way 3DS is between PSP and Wii, able to produce Wii level visuals and handle Wii ports on a small screen and lower resolution.

Console-slight leap over Wii U, able to produce Wii U level visuals/engines/ports but with some extra effects and a higher resolution. Similar to the way Wii was a slight leap over GC.

Basically both will be designed to be roughly around Wii U but with the Handheld at 480p and the console at 1080p with some extra effects. All or most games cross-platform and allows for cross-buy/cross-save.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I was picking out games that have already released.

Besides, are all of those games fronted by Sony or Microsoft? The OP's list is about games from a company, not about games coming to specific platforms. This isn't console warz. I sincerely doubt that very many companies will release 10 good games in a 4 month period (outside of Bamco).

I'm not disputing nintendo are great first party.

But Microsoft and Sony are in a different situation. Their first parties tend to be much higher budget than nintendo games. Naturally they will release more plus they put a lot of their efforts into supporting a shit load of 3rd party games

Players gonna play, play, play, play, play  ;)
