Points taken that three banners is overkill. I've taken it down to one. Is one considered spam?

1.VG Chartz is actively promoting Video game consoles and software.
2.I agree that its that other sites problem but just saying that VG Chartz is most likely getting free advertising from other site via its members sigs

The thing is each clicker on those banners ends up earning you something wether it be money/etc.  If it doesn't why would you be so adamant about the issue.

Thats exactly right. It earns me referral points. People are not forced to click on my signiture by any means so I just dont see what the issue is. I could care less about people bets they've made with other users and what the outcome of those bets were, or If they got there predictions correct or not, or what there cat looks like (even when it has a hilariously cute caption). Why are those not classified as spam?

A laugh perhaps.. what it doesn't provide skip is a way to take advantage of other users for skips own benefit, unlike the purpose of referal ads in sigs..

if vgchartz had a referal system, which was carried out via the banners that people put on other forums, i'd agree that its sig spamming to put vgchartz in your sig.. but the fact is, the user gets nothing for putting vgchartz into their sig, unlike your sig, they are just giving other people the opportunity to learn about this site without getting anything in return as a result..

i'm willing to bet you would never put this in your sig if it didn't include the referal tag at the end of it, and to prove me wrong, you can remove the referal tag from the link.. if you can't, it just means that you don't really want to inform people about the site you are advertising, but rather to just earn credit for yourself.. that is spamming

I dont wish to prove you wrong because your 100% correct. I would definately put some other picture or quote in my sig it I didnt recieve the referal bonus from my current one. People have a choice to sign up for the site if they choose to after clicking on my link. Im willing to bet the 99% of the people that click on my link choose not too. Its not like by clicking im my sig you get signed up for anything.

I don't like Crabmaster2000's commercialism but I do appreciate his honesty. I would argue that although his profiteering is repugnant to me it should be tolerated in small amounts. So his one banner is annoying but not outrageous.

I would feel even better if it was just a text link with a description above it saying "Click here to sign up to win xxxx" or whatever.

But Crabmaster2000, please don't equate for-profit linking/ads with non-profit linking/ads.  They're not equivalent and half of why people are angry at you is probably due to your claims that they are.
